‘The Bachelorette’ Season 8: Did Emily Maynard Choose The Right Man? No Marriage Date Set Yet
After weeks of anticipation, fans have finally learned that Bachelorette star Emily Maynard will be marrying entrepreneur Jef Holm. The two left the tropical paradise of Curacao together as an engaged couple, and now viewers are wondering when they will tie the knot.
But more important, fans of the newly engaged couple are eager to see the two become man and wife on television, a move that Maynard isn't sure she wants to make.
I've learned never to say never, Maynard said during a conference call with her fiance to USA Today.
While Maynard said they definitely plan to get married, the couple does not want to set a date just yet. But Holm is making the move from Salt Lake City to North Carolina to be closer to his future wife and her daughter. The two are engaged, but that does not mean the People Water CEO is ready to give up his personal space. During the After The Final Rose ceremony, Holm told host Chris Harrison that he will be moving into his own separate home in North Carolina rather than sharing a home with Maynard and her daughter.
The entire ABC-watching nation may know that the two are engaged, but Maynard has left one very important person out of the loop: her 7-year-old daughter Ricki.
Right now she knows that Jef is a huge part of my life, Maynard said on Monday's Good Morning America. I didn't want to burden her with too much because it was still a secret, and God knows she's the worst secret keeper ever! Now that we can be out in public, she's going to know.
Multiple sources including The Daily Mail and Radar Online have reported that Maynard wants to star in a spinoff show which would include the planning of the wedding, but other reports conflict with this.
My thoughts on that are pretty clear. I have no interest in ever doing any spinoff show or anything like that, Maynard said to press on Tuesday according to Zap2It. I have been looking forward to the day when I get to go back to normal and not have to worry about the cameras. And Jef and I can just be two people who fell in love on a show and leave all that behind us.
The Bachelorette star said that she believes weddings should be exclusive, but she hasn't ruled out the possibility of having it televised.
I also think a wedding is a private thing, she added. It's one of those things we'd just have to talk about when the time came.
A previous report had said that events since the finale in Curacao had created difficulties in the couple's relationship, but based on recent quotes from the couple, they seem as happy as ever.
It wasn't until I really got to know Jef and fell in love with him and saw him with my daughter, Maynard told reporters. The proposal speech didn't hurt either-it was some of the nicest things anybody's ever said to me, and I knew in my heart that I had all the confidence in the world.
What do you think? Did Emily make the right decision, and will she televise the wedding? Sound off in the comments below.
