13-Year-Old Killed By Terminally-Ill Father Who Feared His Wife Wouldn't Be Able To Raise Him Alone
A terminally-ill man in Russia killed his teen son because he feared that his wife wouldn’t be able to look after the son alone, police said Wednesday.
According to local reports, the man, identified as 40-year-old Oleg Drachev, his wife and their 13-year-old son were a happy family and went out swimming and hiking together. However, things changed recently after the man was diagnosed with brain tumor.
Fearing that his wife would not be able to raise their son alone after his death, the man fatally stabbed the sleeping boy when his wife had gone for work. When she arrived, she found the boy lying motionless on the bed. The man then tried to stab his wife with a knife. She managed to escape and called the police.
The officers arrived at the scene and took the man into custody.
Speaking to local media, the mother of the accused said, “You cannot even imagine how he loved his son. He never punished him. Mostly his mother told him off. But after the cancer diagnosis, he went crazy.”
Investigation into the case was ongoing.
