An argument between siblings took a fatal turn when a 13-year-old boy stabbed their father who had scolded him for getting into a fight with his sister.
The boy from the city of Pune, in the western Indian state of Maharashtra, was detained Thursday for killing his 40-year-old father.
The victim reportedly lived with his wife and four children in the parking area of a housing society where he worked as a security guard.
While preparing dinner Thursday evening, the man saw his eldest son and daughter fighting over an issue. The man interfered in the fight between the siblings and separated them. He also scolded them both for quarreling with each other.
The teen boy then got furious at his father for reprimanding him. In a fit of rage, he reportedly attacked his father with a knife, resulting in his tragic death.
"Angered at being scolded, the boy picked up a knife, used by his father to cut onions and stabbed him in the stomach. The single blow proved fatal and the watchman collapsed on the floor," Jaganath Kalaskar, senior inspector, said as per Times of India.
The man was immediately rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead by the doctors. Hospital authorities alerted the police and the suspect was immediately taken into custody.
The teenager has charged with murder and will be produced on the juvenile justice board, The Indian Express said in a report, citing police.
Recently, a 10-year-old boy was arrested in the Indian state of Maharashtra for murdering his 8-year-old brother with an ax during an argument. The suspect was reportedly jealous of his younger brother as he believed that his parents gave the latter more attention. The tragic incident took place when the two boys got into a fight as their mother and father were away for work and came to light when the parents got back home. The boy, who has been charged with murder and destruction of evidence, was produced in a juvenile court for a hearing.
