Two men were found dead inside a Brooklyn apartment Monday. Police said one died of head trauma and another apparently of drug overdose.

The bodies of the men, aged 61 and 49, were recovered from a fifth-floor apartment in the Cooper Park Houses on Debevoise Avenue, near Maspeth Avenue, in East Williamsburg at around 11:30 a.m., according to New York Daily News. Cops said they shared the apartment, adding that the elder person, who suffered head trauma, appeared to have died a few days before the younger one.

Drug paraphernalia was found in the apartment and police said the younger one succumbed to a drug overdose. Police said they received a call from a mutual friend of the deceased who asked them to conduct a welfare check on the pair.

Police didn’t immediately release the names of those who died. The city medical examiner was working to ascertain the exact cause of their deaths.

Earlier this month, a man in Pennsylvania was charged with murder after the body of his girlfriend was found inside a refrigerator of his apartment. The 38-year-old woman was reported missing in late April. Cops learned the woman and her boyfriend were in an abusive relationship and that the victim feared for her life.

Two days later, a Bronx man was charged for killing a woman whose decomposed body was found in his apartment. The 30-year-old man was arrested in April under domestic abuse charges for inflicting physical harm on the mother of his child. Police reached his apartment to question the victim but could not trace her. After enquiring with the neighbors, they learned that she moved out of the house with her child to avoid the accused. Meanwhile, the officers noticed a foul smell coming out from the house and forced their way into it to find a decomposing body of a woman.
