In a horrific incident, two minor sisters died after they were bitten by a snake Tuesday night inside their home. According to local reports, the incident took place in Subernapur district in the eastern Indian state of Odisha.

Authorities said the two sisters were sleeping in their home in Panchmahala village when a deadly snake slithered inside and bit the two girls.

The minors were identified as Archita and Nikita, aged 12 and 13 respectively. Their father was identified as Balagopal Jagdala, local media network Kalinga TV reported.

After the family was alerted about the incident, they rushed both the girls to Sonepur District Headquarters Hospital. Doctors checked the girls and declared they were brought dead.

It remains unclear as to how the snake entered their home. Details about which part of the home the girls were sleeping in was also unknown. Local media did not report if the snake that bit the girls was found or not.

In another recent incident, a 58-year-old man died after he was bitten by a venomous snake inside his home in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. The man was found unconscious by his son.

The incident took place at Dongarpada in Bhiwandi town.

"Kongil, who belongs to Dongar pada village in Bhiwandi district, was spotted lying unconscious at his home. However, his son realised that his father was bitten by a snake, hence he immediately moved him to the Bhiwandi city area for the medical treatment," a police official told the Free Press Journal.

"However, Kongil was declared dead on arrival at Indira Gandhi hospital in Bhiwandi," added the official.
