2-Year-Old Boy, Missing Since Mother's Murder, Found In Alligator's Mouth; Dad Arrested

The body of a 2-year-old boy, who was reported missing after his mother was found brutally murdered, has been found in the mouth of an alligator in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The child's father, Thomas Mosley, 21, is currently facing charges in connection with the deaths of the toddler, Taylen Mosley, and his mother, Pashun Jeffery, 20.

Taylen had been missing since police found his mother stabbed to death in her apartment on March 30, according to ABC News.

Jeffery's body was found after her family went to check on her and found blood on the sidewalk leading to her apartment.

It is believed Jeffery's body had more than 100 stab wounds, the arrest affidavit reportedly said.

Investigators also found that Thomas celebrated his birthday at Jeffery's home on March 29. Jeffery's family also visited her apartment for the birthday party and eventually left at around 5:15 p.m., leaving Thomas alone with Jeffery and their son, 10 Tampa Bay reported.

Thomas went back to his mother's house later that day. He had lacerations to his arm, which appeared to have been caused by slippage during a knife attack, officials noted in the affidavit.

Thomas later went to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

Following the discovery of Jeffery's body, investigators searched the victim's apartment and found a cleaning bottle placed under a bed. Officials reportedly noted that a bloody shoe print with a Gucci emblem had been found at the location.

The search for Taylen began after Jeffery was found stabbed to death.

"A major search was launched using all the Department's resources and the assistance of many local, state and federal agencies," St. Petersburg Police Department said in a statement released on April 1.

The investigation led detectives to Lake Maggiore, where officers were alerted Friday evening about an alligator with something between its jaws.

"The alligator was killed in order to retrieve the body, confirmed as that of Taylen Mosley," the police department also noted.

Taylen's cause of death is still not determined.

"It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that we found the body of Taylen Mosley. My condolences to his family," St. Petersburg Police Department Chief Anthony Holloway said, as per the statement.

Taylen's father is now facing charges of two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of his son and Jeffery.
