The Queen has a good relationship with both of her granddaughters-in-law. However there are things that she likes about the Duchess of Cambridge that the Duchess of Sussex doesn’t possess.

Tight family

According to Ashley Pearson in the Amazon Prime documentary “William & Kate: The Journey,” Queen Elizabeth II likes the fact that Middleton is “close to her family.” Unlike Princess Diana and Markle, Middleton grew up in a complete family and she shared a good relationship with them.

Meanwhile, Markle is not on speaking terms with her father and siblings. Markle and her dad had a falling-out after it was reported that Thomas Markle Sr. agreed to stage his photos in the run-up to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal wedding.

Doesn’t steal the spotlight

Another thing that Queen Elizabeth II likes about Middleton is the way she handles herself with the media. She never graced interviews on her own and never tried to steal the spotlight from the royal family.

“Kate has never tried to garner extra attention for herself. There's nothing flashy or showy,” Pearson said.

On the other hand, many believed that Markle loves attention and she often does something to be in the spotlight. This might be an issue between her and Prince Harry, who also reportedly wants to always be at the center stage.

Shared love for outdoors

According to royal expert Phil Dampier, the Queen and future queen consort both love the outdoors. Middleton was brought up in the countryside and just like the monarch, she loves to spend time with nature.

Middleton encourages parents to let their kids play outside. The Queen feels the same whenever she is outside.

“The Queen loves the outdoors, she’s happiest when she’s wearing her tweeds out there, with her horses and this is something she shares with Kate,” royal commentator Erin Hill told People.

Middleton also tried her best to keep up with the monarch and even joined them for hunting. However, Markle didn’t do the same. According to Jeremy Vine, Markle probably didn’t want to go to Balmoral because she was uncomfortable with grouse shooting. The Duchess of Sussex is not into hunting and shooting and when the royals are in Scotland, their stay is all about these activities.
