5 Of Lady Gaga’s Popular Music Videos In Honor Of ‘Stupid Love’
Lady Gaga released her latest single “Stupid Love” Friday and its video has already amassed more than three million views online since its midnight release.
The song marks Gaga’s first solo single in three years, according to Billboard. In typical Gaga fashion, the accompanying music video for “Stupid Love” is full of jam-packed choreography and fluorescent, monochromatic outfits and wigs. It’s the first single to off of her upcoming sixth studio album, although no release date for the album has been confirmed.
In honor of “Stupid Love,” here is a look back at some of Gaga’s most beloved music videos. (Please note that this article does not pay mention to all of her popular music videos to date.)
“Bad Romance”
Reigning it a No. 1, this is by far Gaga’s most popular music video. It was released 10 years ago in November 2009 and now has more than one billion views. At the time of its release, it quickly rose in Billboard’s charts to peak at No. 2 that December.
“Poker Face”
A song about coming to terms with bisexuality all the while trying to mask one’s feelings with a “Poker Face” is Gaga’s second most popular music video. The video begins with Gaga rising out of a pool in full black spandex while two Great Danes frame her entrance. The video has nearly 700 million views since its December 2009 release.
“Telephone”
Ever the fan of long music videos, “Telephone,” released in March 2010, is one of her longest at nine and a half minutes. With more than 345 million views, this video still comes in second to length to Gaga’s “Marry the Night” (which is more than 13 minutes long). The video’s length means the pop singer has even more time for a variety of costume changes including her iconic yellow hair and large, black hat while sitting shotgun to Beyoncé — who is also featured on the song — and wrapping caution tape around her body.
“Born This Way”
In what has become almost an anthem for the LGBTQIA community, this music video features a kaleidoscope effect that creates an almost psychedelic experience for viewers. Released in February 2011, the video has more than 256 million views. Gaga spends most of the video dancing in a bra and panties.
“LoveGame”
Gaga appears to be almost bedazzled at the beginning of this music video that has more than 173 million views. The 2009 video was directed by Joseph Kahn who also directed a couple of Taylor Swift’s music videos including “Blank Space,” and Britney Spears’s “Toxic,” Harper’s Bazaar reported.
With “Stupid Love,” Gaga has upheld her music video formula once again by including elaborate costumes and a variety of choreography. Only time will tell where it falls in the ranks.
