5 Of Netflix's Quirkiest YA Love Movies To Watch After 'To All The Boys 2'
If you enjoyed “To All The Boys 2,” there’s more to love!
Netflix has a thing for nailing a wacky young adult romance narrative. Although this was proven with "To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You," which stars Lana Condor and Noah Centineo, it didn’t start with Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky. The streaming service’s youthful romance films often take unusual twists as the leading characters tackle the usual challenges teens and 20-something-year-olds may face as they grow up.
"#REALITYHIGH"
Actors Nesta Cooper and Keith Powers join forces for this high school love story. The film follows a senior named Dani, whose social status takes a major leap when her new boyfriend's ex befriends her. However, her new "BFF" may come at the cost of her biggest dream and her relationship.
The movie introduces a modern social media/influencer twist to a classic teen comedy.
"Sierra Burgess is a Loser"
Centineo also stars in this teen drama that centers around a student named Sierra Burgess, who doesn’t meet her highschool’s beauty standards. The tale begins when the popular girl at school gives Centineo’s character, Jayme, Sierra’s number as a prank. The mishap sparks an unexpected romance between Sierra, played by Shannon Purser, and Jayme and an equally surprising friendship between two polar opposite classmates.
"You Get Me"
Bella Thorne stars in this thrilling love story as Holly, a girl who becomes obsessed with a boy named Tyler (Taylor John Smith), after what was meant to be a one night stand. She becomes so infatuated she transfers to his school and befriends his girlfriend, Alison (Halston Sage). While this film is a little more on the intense and bloody side, it definitely meets the unusual love story quota.
"The Kissing Booth"
In this romantic comedy, Joey King plays a girl named Elle who starts a relationship with her best friend’s “bad boy” brother Noah. There’s only one problem in this perfect romance: it goes against the best friend rule book. Elle must choose between a new love or her life long friendship. A sequel to the film is on the way.
"Tall Girl"
This film follows a girl named Jodi, who’s extremely insecure about her height thanks to her not-so-friendly schoolmates. She spends a lot of her time trying to lay low until a taller Swedish foreign exchange student named Stig catches her eye.
All of these quirky films are available to stream on Netflix now while fans wait for the third "To All The Boys" movie, which does not yet have a release date.
