6 Theories On How 'Game Of Thrones' Will End
The wait for the final season of "Game of Thrones" could wind up being unbearable for fans if the series doesn't return to HBO until 2019. However, the long wait will also give them plenty of time to come up with theories about how they think the show will end.
With only six episodes left, the time for major events and moments will valuable, and it's not likely the show will waste a single second on a story that doesn't have some major impact or close a character's arc in a satisfying way. Of course, with so many characters still on the canvas and several different ways for the action to play out, fans are going to come up with a number of theories about who will die, and how, as well as what exactly will happen.
Here are 6 theories we have about key events that will occur before the show ends:
Daenerys Is Going To Be Pregnant With Jon's Baby
Without a doubt, Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) will be pregnant with Jon's (Kit Harington) baby when Season 8 premieres. Whether she will already be obviously pregnant when they eventually arrive in Winterfell or not is up for interpretation, but also count on that baby being born quickly with how fast the show is moving now.
A pregnancy will definitely be in the story however, even if for some reason, the baby isn't born. With all the discussion of Daenerys having a successor, and the reminders that she was deemed infertile all throughout Season 7, the fact that we saw her and Jon having sex was the truest telltale hint she was on track for a pregnancy.
If Cersei Is Pregnant, Her Baby Won't Survive
Cersei (Lena Headey) had claimed to be pregnant in Season 7, though there's no guarantee yet that she is. However, if she is indeed carrying Jaime's (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) baby again, it won't live. Thus far, the prophecy told to Cersei by Maggie the Frog in Season 5 had been spot on, and she was only destined to have three children. She already had three, and all died, as the prophecy stated. It's unlikely that the show would choose to go against the prophecy for her now.
Speaking Of Prophecies, Cersei Will Be Killed
Though it didn't appear on the show, in the books, Cersei's prophecy ended with a warning that the Valonquar—or little brother—would eventually kill her. Cersei always assumed that the one to kill her would be Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), but after Jaime finally abandoned her in the Season 7 finale, it seems more likely than ever that he will be the one to fulfill that part of the prophecy.
We Will See Daario Naharis Again
The last time we say Daenerys' former lover, Daario (Michiel Huisman), she left him behind in Meereen because she was convinced she couldn't take him along with her to Westeros. As far as we know, he is still in Essos, and still a sell sword. Cersei revealed that Euron (Pilou Asbæk) was on his way there to get the sell swords she had paid for called the Golden Company. In the chance that Daario is a part of the Golden Company now (he is a sell sword, meaning his loyalty is to whoever pays the highest dollar for his services), it would pose an interesting twist.
Another Stark Child Will Die
Though Season 7 saw the remaining Stark children not only all survive, but team up to finally take out Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen), it would seem unrealistic to expect that Sansa (Sophie Turner), Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) and Arya (Maisie Williams) would all make it through Season 8 as well. At least one more is likely slated to die, and it seems most likely that it would be Arya. Now that Jon's identity has been truly revealed, he isn't going be sticking around at Winterfell, which means Sansa has a role to play after the Long Night, as the Lady of Winterfell. Bran's role as the Three-Eyed Raven also makes him safe from death as well. Arya has no real role to play in the future, because once the remaining targets on her kill list are gone, she has no purpose. However, if her death will happen, it won't be in the season premiere.
Viserion Will Fight Drogon To The Death-And Win
The now undead Viserion will be useful in ways other than melting part of The Wall. He will for sure be used in the battle between the living and the dead, which will mean he is going to face off against his former brothers, Drogon and Rhaegal. Interestingly, the show has followed a pattern when it comes to the deaths most characters have faced throughout the series. Usually, however they killed someone else, whether their reasons were noble or wrong, they were killed the same way later. In season 1, Daenerys' husband, Kahl Drogo (Jason Momoa), killed her brother Viserys (Harry Lloyd) by pouring molten gold over his head. Drogo also died by the end of the season, after Dany smothered him. Following the pattern, since both the human men are dead, their dragon counterparts are likely set to face off in a new battle. Since Drogo was the one who committed the murder last time, it stands to reason that Viserion (named for Viserys), will be the victor in their battle.
Daenerys Will Die
Unfortunately, though she was always the rightful queen of the Seven Kingdoms, it doesn't seem likely that Daenerys will get to sit on the Iron Throne. Now only does Jon, a.k.a Aegon, have the better claim and is the rightful heir now that his parentage is confirmed, but only one can be the ruler. It would be too happy of an ending for the show if both Jon and Dany make it to the end--"Game of Thrones" isn't about happily-ever-after endings. Both characters are also ties to the Azor Ahai prophecy, which states that a hero will sacrifice their love in order to defeat the Night King. Though Melisandre (Carice Van Houten) told Daenerys she has a role to play in that prophecy, as does Jon, it seems more likely that her role is to be the one who dies and is sacrificed. Though she has the dragons, her battle skills are weak compared to Jon's, meaning she is more likely to die during the battle with the Night King, leaving Jon (and her potential child with him) as the last Targaryens—and Jon will then be the one to sit on the Iron Throne until their child is old enough to assume the role.
