A male suspect went on a stabbing rampage in downtown Colorado Springs in attacks that were carried out at random.
The suspect was restrained by some of his victims and arrested before dawn by officers of the police department.
The police responded to a call at 1.30 am and found there were two stabbing victims. The suspect had fled on walking trails, which led through the park, then the officers who started to check found more victims.
The attack left eight people injured. Some of them were attacked on the street while others were found in "America, the Beautiful Park."
Officers spread out to search and received reports the suspect had stabbed more people an estimated mile and a half away from where they found the first victims.
The victims were taken to various hospitals though police said the extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
Authorities claimed the attacks seemed random, and there was no known relationship between the suspects and their victims.
Colorado Springs Police Sergeant Shawn Peterson alerted media outlets the suspect seems to have acted on their own.
The police stated the suspect was a male though they provided no other information concerning him other than the actions.
The incident is not the only time a random stabbing has occurred this year.
A man stabbed two people, leading to one fatality in a restaurant during a violent string of attacks on Friday at a shopping plaza in Texas.
It began with an assault at a coffee shop and ended with the suspect jumping off the roof. The attacks happened on a busy downtown avenue of apartments and restaurants south of the Texas Capitol.
The attack began when the attacker, a 27-year-old male, struck a person inside the coffee shop for no reason, according to Austin police.
He then fled to another establishment a few doors down, where he then stabbed two people before escaping to the roof.
By Friday night, the police claimed the wounded person was in severe but stable condition though the suspect was in a critical condition.
Stacy Rommie stated she was getting her drink and that the suspect came out of nowhere. He started to hit the victim in the back of the head with an object.
The authorities stated that both victims worked at the restaurant. The emergency responders described the fatality as a male in his 20s.
