An alien hunter claims that there’s a bear on Mars, which indicates that there is --or used to be-- life on the red planet.

In an entry on the ET Database, self-titled astrobiologist Scott Waring claimed there’s a statue resembling a bear on the surface of Mars. He showed cropped and zoomed-in images showing the “ancient bear” that rests on the rocky surface of the red planet.

Waring said the “statue” resembles a black bear as it lies down on the ground. The statue has a fur-like texture and some features like “a bear face, nose, eyes and mouth.” Waring also explained that when people look closely, they’ll notice that the “statue” has two front paws below the “head.”

He said that this could be a statue of a “common species that once existed on the planet Mars, perhaps its (sic) from their stories they told, but either way, its a bear.”

He ended his presentation by claiming that this is “proof” that bears once lived on Mars, and that “ancient alien theorists” agree to his claim.

Out of proportion

Thankfully, Waring didn’t keep the photo’s URL link to himself. Waring's photo is from Gigapan and is publicly available on the internet. Those who want to see it for themselves can do so on this website.

According to Gigapan, the photo was taken by the Curiosity rover on Sol 44. The photo was added to Gigapan’s database on Oct. 4, 2016, which indicates that the photo has been existing for years now.

What’s interesting here is that, as seen in the photo below, the Curiosity rover’s tracks (two dark colored lines on the right) are near Waring’s “bear,” which is but the small rock inside the yellow circle to the left. Waring zoomed in on the rock and called it a “bear” but didn’t show the whole picture as the rover’s tracks could be seen.

Now what’s interesting there? According to Space.com, the Curiosity rover is just as big as an SUV and measures 9 feet 1 inch wide. The rover would have to be way bigger than that for Waring’s “bear” to be a real bear. But since the rover is that big, the “bear” is obviously just a small rock.
