All The ‘Avengers’ Stars At TIFF: Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson And More
The Toronto International Film Festival looks a little like an “Avengers: Endgame” reunion. Several stars from the biggest movie of all time are all at TIFF promoting their next movies. Check out all the Marvel actors spotted at the film festival:
Though he recently retired as Captain America, Chris Evans is still making movies. He stars in “Knives Out,” the Agatha Christie-inspired murder mystery from “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson.
Captain America’s successor, Falcon, is also at TIFF. Anthony Mackie stars in “Seberg,” based on a true story. He plays Hakim Jamal, a Black Panther party member. When actress Jean Seberg (Kristen Stewart) starts associating with the group, the FBI’s COINTELPRO surveillance program targets her.
Scarlett Johansson took a break from working on the solo “Black Widow” movie to promote “Jojo Rabbit.” “Thor: Ragnarok” director/Korg actor Taika Waititi is helming the movie, which follows a young boy (Roman Griffin Davis) in Nazi Germany whose imaginary friend is Hitler (Waititi). Johansson plays his mother, who is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie) in their home.
Johansson is also at Toronto International Film Festival to promote “Marriage Story,” a drama about a relationship dissolving. Adam Driver co-stars.
Sebastian Stan left his Winter Soldier wig behind for his Toronto movie screening. He’s part of the romantic comedy “Endings, Beginnings,” which follows a woman (Shailene Woodley) caught between a nice guy (Jamie Dornan) and a bad boy (Stan). The movie was largely improvised.
Captain Marvel is at TIFF too. Brie Larson is promoting “Just Mercy,” which she stars in with “Black Panther” scene-stealer Michael B. Jordan. The drama is based on the true story of Walter McMillian, a man wrongfully convicted of murder who spent six years on death row before being exonerated. Jamie Foxx plays McMillian while Jordan plays his lawyer, Bryan Stevenson. Larson plays Eva Ansley, one of Stevenson’s only local allies.
Though she wasn’t in “Avengers: Endgame,” Chloe Bennet has been in the Marvel Television family since the beginning. The “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” star was there to promote her animated flick “Abominable.”
The festival continues through Sept. 15, so there is still a chance for more “Avengers: Endgame” stars to show up. Aunt May actress Marisa Tomei stars in “Frankie,” a drama about the family of a famous film star, as well as “Human Capital,” a drama about a tragic car accident.
