Amber Heard 'Made Up This Big Drama,' Johnny Depp's Ex-Bodyguard Says
KEY POINTS
- Amber Heard made up the drama between her and ex-husband Johnny Depp, according to the actor’s ex-bodyguard
- Depp's former personal assistant said Heard was the real abuser
- Heard's former PA claimed that the actress "appropriated" her rape story
Johnny Depp's ex-bodyguard spoke out in defense of the actor and against Amber Heard during the actor's legal battle against The Sun.
Rick Wood, Depp's former security guard, supported the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor in his legal battle against The Sun and Heard. According to Wood, the drama between the exes was made up by the "Aquaman" star.
"She made up this big drama she was leaving, taxis would turn up, we would have to wave them away and then we would pick up the suitcase and there was nothing in the suitcase at all,” Wood said as quoted by Page Six, adding that it was “all for show.”
Heard alleged that Depp was abusive and violent. On the contrary, Wood said the "Fantastic Beasts" star was laid back and cool "pretty much" like his character Jack Sparrow.
"He stays in character so he’s pretty much Jack Sparrow — great bloke. I couldn’t see it in him and in my industry, you know who’s a wife-beater and who’s not," Wood said.
Wood pointed out that between the two, it was Heard who was known to "stir the pot." He added that Heard was also popular for her "look at me" antics.
Wood wasn't the only one who defended Depp. The actor's former personal assistant also said that Heard was the real abuser.
Stephen Deuters worked as Depp's personal assistant for 16 years. He confessed that when he was still with Depp, Heard never mentioned about abuse. Deuters said that between the two, it was Depp who told him on multiple occasions that Heard attacked and abused him verbally and physically.
“I, along with many others, was extremely surprised and outraged when this hit the press,” Deuters said in the court documents obtained by Page Six.
“I knew that Ms. Heard was the abuser in the relationship and I was appalled that she would behave in this way.”
Meanwhile, Heard’s former personal assistant also alleged that the actress “appropriated” her rape story as a sexual violence survivor. Kate James worked as Heard’s PA from March 2012 to February 2015.
“I’m here for my own reasons … I’m a sexual violence survivor and that’s very, very serious to take that stance if you are not one and I am one. That’s the reason I’m here, because I take offense,” James said in court.
"Because Ms. Heard referred to a conversation we had about me being violently raped at machete point in Brazil and she used it as her own story. She referred directly to a violent rape that occurred to me 26 years ago and she twisted it into her own story and she used it for her own use."
