Meanwhile, the pre-recorded audition episodes will continue to air on NBC until next month. From there, some guest judges will be invited to join Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel in deciding which acts deserve to compete in the lives shows. As of late, four contestants already have a sure spot in the lives after they were given the prestigious golden buzzer.
On week one, Mel B gave 12-year-old ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer her golden buzzer after she impressed her with her unique singing act with her puppet, Petunia. On week two, Cowell gave his golden buzzer to 29-year-old deaf singer, Mandy Harvey, after she sung an original song that made the audiences tear up.
Three weeks into Season 12, Mandel gave his golden buzzer to 16-year-old formerly blind contestant, Christian Guardino, after he sung Jackson 5’s “Who’s Lovin’ You.” “America’s Got Talent” Season 12 host Tyra Banks also broke the rules for the Ukrainian dance group, Light Balance Dancers, by giving them her golden buzzer. As of late, only Klum has not picked a contestant she wants to see go straight to the live shows.
Other than these four contestants, several other acts also made headlines after auditioning in “America’s Got Talent.” Evie Clair, 13, sang Christina Perri’s “Arms” on week four. She will be competing with 9-year-old contestants Celine Tam and Angelica Hale. Magicians Will Tsai, Tom London and Colin Cloud also shocked everyone with their impressive tricks.
“America’s Got Talent” Season 12 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
