Amy Duggar King shared her survival story after being in two abusive relationships years ago.

King took to Instagram and shared a lengthy post for National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. She shared her personal story in hopes of helping others who are going through the same situation know what "abuse can look like."

"I dated a guy before I was married that was in oil. A lot of money and had a pretty big status around town," she wrote. "We were at a New Years' party at some millionaire's house and he was telling a story but he wasn’t telling the story right so I said 'No, babe, it went like this' Thinking that wouldn’t be a big deal to just tell the story right? He asked if we could go talk in the hallway and the second we got away from people he grabbed me by the neck and grabbed my hair and hit my head against the wall several times and told me to never make him look bad again."

She pointed out that her job as a "girlfriend" with that man was to only make him look good. Her ex also told her to shut her trap or she would not be his wife. According to Amy, she was shaking and was so scared at the time because she didn't know what to do.

When they left the party, she tried to apologize to her then-boyfriend like she did something wrong. However, he became more furious. He broke the vase, went into his family vault and tossed the ring he had for her in the yard.

"I knew I couldn’t live with that. Then I dated a guy who seemed great, he was taller which made me feel safe and there was a genuine connection and then one night it switched," she continued.

Things were well until one night while they were watching a movie, the man accused her of thinking about another guy. She denied it, but the man insisted and screamed at her, "Don't lie to Me." The confrontation turned into a fight with her ex slamming the TV and throwing things like he was going to hit her.

"ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Imagine the nightmare if I would have married either men?" Amy wrote. "Abuse starts small, and they figure out what they can get away with, and then it leads to more and more and more until they literally cannot stop."

Amy also offered unsolicited advice to married individuals who are in an abusive relationship. According to the "19 Kids and Counting" alum, when their security is already being threatened, they should "leave."

"Escape their wrath and their manipulation and control," she concluded her post.

Amy is now happily married to Dillon King. They tied the knot in September 2015. They share a 2-year-old son named Daxton. In August, Amy shared some breastfeeding photos to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week.
