A 19-year-old was arrested in Texas for allegedly biting and strangling a female victim because she didn’t “properly say goodbye” to him.
The assailant is also accused of grabbing the victim’s phone and driving away with it after she tried to call 911.
The incident took place at a Southeast Bexar County residence on Wednesday. It is unclear who made the 911 call that led to deputies arriving at the house and finding the assaulted victim, according to the Charlotte Observer.
The victim told deputies that the 19-year-old man, identified as Ethan Devilbliss, launched the attack after they had an argument.
“Devilbliss had reportedly become angry after the victim did not ‘properly say goodbye’ to him,” read a Bexar County Sheriff's Office statement posted on Facebook.
Devilbliss is accused of turning violent and biting the victim on her neck. The victim also appeared to have redness after Devilbliss allegedly strangled her, the sheriff’s office statement said.
The victim tried to call 911. However, Devilbliss managed to get the phone out of the victim’s hand and drive away from the scene.
Deputies located the accused teen within minutes. He was arrested and found to be in possession of a pistol that is equipped with rifle rounds. Deputies also found an ounce of marijuana among his belongings.
Devilbliss was booked on assault of a family member by choking or strangulation, continuous violence against family, violation of bond/protective order on assault/stalking, interference with an emergency call and possession of marijuana, according to Forth Worth Star-Telegram.
Investigators also found that Devilbliss had four active warrants and was prohibited by court order to possess firearms. The warrants included possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, two counts of unlawfully carrying a handgun inside a motor vehicle and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
An unrelated incident was reported last year after a high school student was strangled to death by his 20-year-old friend because he refused to share his phone’s password. The victim had been missing for days until police found his decomposed body lying in an isolated park in India's Capital Delhi. The suspect, who had befriended the victim earlier on social media, was hiding in a friend's house when cops arrested him.
