'Ant-Man' Post Credits Scene Star Reveals Key Details About 'Captain America: Civil War'
Fans that went to the theater to see Marvel’s newest installment in its cinematic universe, “Ant-Man,” were treated to the first look at the highly anticipated “Captain America: Civil War” as the all-important post-credits scene. Now, one of the actors that appeared in the teaser is sharing some details about the brief reveal.
[SPOILER ALERT: The remainder of this article will discuss the end-credits scene from “Ant-Man.”]
Those who had the commitment to sit through the credits of “Ant-Man” got to finally see how Captain America (Chris Evans) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) have been doing in their search for The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). Apparently, the search ends in a dark room with the metal arm of Cap’s former ally stuck in some kind of heavy-duty vise. Falcon and Captain America discuss what to do about their current predicament and decide to loop in, presumably, Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) to the situation. While the scene was shrouded in an awful lot of mystery, Sebastian Stan cleared some things up to Buzzfeed.
“I think [what Bucky was caught in was] more of a vise. But it would never happen at his own hand, by his own doing,” Stan said. “ In terms of that scene in ‘Ant-Man,’ I’ve seen some of the ideas people have about it and I would just say that whatever you’re seeing on the surface, it’s not as obvious as that.”
The scene, according to Cinemablend, is actual footage from the upcoming 2016 movie. So fans can expect to see the conclusion, and an explanation, for the vise when the major Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) crossover premieres. However, it seems that Stan is helping fans look in the right direction for clues now. It doesn’t look like the reunion between Captain America and his long-time friend was met with hostility, which makes sense since the star-spangled hero will need all the friends he can get in the upcoming film.
“Civil War” will mirror the iconic Marvel Comics storyline in which Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) leads a faction of superheroes against Captain America over the issue of Superhuman Registration. In other words, the government wants all heroes to register their secret identities, and Cap doesn’t want that to happen. However, despite the movie being billed as a clash amongst good guys, it was previously reported that the MCU will bring to life the villain Helmut Zemo. It’s possible that this villain will be out to get The Winter Soldier for all of his past acts of aggression since World War II. Unfortunately, nothing will be clear until “Civil War” hits theaters in 2016.
