Are Carmelo Anthony, La La Still Divorcing? Estranged Couple Reportedly Taking It Slow

Carmelo Anthony and estranged wife La La are taking the scenic route to splitsville. The couple separated in April and are living apart, but they have yet to file for divorce.

Sources now tell TMZ that while there’s no chance of reconciliation, the New York Knicks power forward and La La, 37, aren’t rushing to get divorced. In fact, one source said they’re in a “limbo stage.” Filing won’t be immediate, but it is imminent.

“Divorce isn’t on the horizon,” one source told TMZ, suggesting that it’ll be a while before their divorce gets underway.

The Anthonys have been sharing custody of their son Kiyan, 10, and are reportedly content with the routine they’ve established. The 33-year-old NBA great and La La reunited on Mother’s Day to bond with their son. The trio was spotted out to dinner and seemed happy, despite the split.

In another show of just how amicable their split is, Carmelo commented on one of La La’s recent Instagram photos. She shared a picture of her with her arm around Kiyan at VH1’s “Dear Mama: An Event to Honor Moms.” Her estranged hubby showed the pair some love in the comments — writing, “Love yall [sic]” — which gave fans hope for the future of their relationship.

Rumors began swirling about the state of Carmelo and La La’s relationship in April. She was spotted out on separate occasions without her wedding ring on her finger, which lead fans to believe they’d gone their separate ways. Those rumors intensified when reports surfaced claiming she’d moved into her own apartment in New York City.

She finally broke her silence during the same event she was photographed with her son at. La La opened up about how she found strength following the split. She gave major props to her family, whom she claims supported her through it all

“My family. My family is my strength,” she said. “My family and God is my strength. That’s where I’ve always found strength my entire life, so now would be no different.”

La La gave a special mention to her mother. She revealed one particularly telling piece of advice she was given by her about letting people live. La La shared that her mom has always been there for her no matter what, which is how she hopes to be.

“My mom just always taught me to let people live, let people be who they are without restrictions, without limitations,” she said. “I think that’s why I was able to go so far in my life and career — because my mom always supported me, even when I had the craziest ideas ever. So I definitely would do the same with him, and just support him in whatever he wants to do.”

It’s not clear what exactly the cause of Carmelo and La La’s split is. Sources told Entertainment Tonight that their separation was amicable, but “a long time coming.” The couple, while estranged, is said to have “much respect for one another.”

Rumors have surfaced alleging that cheating was to blame for their separation. Carmelo supposedly impregnated an exotic dancer, according to TMZ. The woman is said to be quite far along in her pregnancy.

“Carmelo has told La La and those close to him that these rumors about him impregnating a dancer are not true,” one source told ET Online of the infidelity rumors.
