Rapper Big Sean and Ariana Grande confirmed their relationship status Sunday night, holding hands while backstage at the 2014 MTV VMAs. The two were rumored to be dating earlier this month, after collaborating on the song “Best Mistake,” which is on Grande’s upcoming album, “My Everything.” They also collaborated on “Right There” and "Problem."

"There is a lot of chemistry as you heard in the song, which is how they first got close,” a source told Us Weekly, referring to Big Sean's collaboration with Grande on her new single. Though there have been dating rumors, the two holding hands backstage was their first public display of romance. (Maybe they forgot about the cameras.)

Grande, 21, broke up for the second time this month with 19-year-old Australian comedy star Jai Brooks. "You learn a lot about love, life and the people around you during a time of crisis," she wrote before their split in a cryptic message via Twitter, referring to the recent death of her grandfather. "I thank everybody who was here for me when I needed them as the ones who weren't really broke my heart."

Big Sean, 26, broke off his engagement to actress Naya Rivera, 27, in April. “After careful thought and much consideration, Sean has made the difficult decision to call the wedding off,” the rapper’s rep told Us Weekly. “Sean wishes Naya nothing but the best and it is still his hope that they can continue to work through their issues privately. We will not be commenting again on this matter."
