If you were shocked about Canadian singer Avril Lavigne's engagement to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, then join the club. (Whatever happened to Brody Jenner?!) This is not a very tardy April Fool's day joke, the couple spoke to Hello! Canada to dish on their surprising relationship and flash Lavigne's big engagement rock.

Lavigne, 27, who is currently working on her fifth album, met Kroeger, 37, in "intense studio sessions." Judging by what Kroeger told Hello! Canada, it sounds like it was love at first sight.

"I knew I was falling for her," he gushed. "It was incredibly powerful and something I'll never forget."

The musical duo snapped a shot for the cover of Hello! Canada. Kroeger and Lavigne could be seen smiling as the Nickelback singer wraps his arm around his beau as she proudly holds up her ring hand.

The pair was not just compatible musically, according to Lavigne, Kroeger "makes me laugh every day. He takes care of me in every way and is extremely attentive."

Their relationship blossomed very quickly, with the "Sk8er Boi" singer still being linked to "Hills" star Brody Jenner in 2012. The pair had been dating on-and-odd since 2010, but the relationship is definitely off for good now.

This won't be Avril Lavigne's first wedding either. The singer married to Sum 41's Deryck Whibley, 32, in 2006, remaining in the relationship for four years before divorcing.

"I feel like the luckiest person alive because I get to be with my best friend every day!" said Kroeger about his upcoming first marriage.

Not everyone feels the way that Kroeger does. TMZ is even calling their relationship a "Match made in music hell." Here's hoping that Josh Gross of the Boise Weekly begins covering Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne's upcoming nuptials.
