‘The Bachelor’ 2020 Spoilers: Why Peter’s Finale Is 4 Hours Long
After two months of following Peter Weber’s journey on “The Bachelor,” ABC is ending his installment with two nights of programming.
The network has confirmed that Peter’s finale will be an extended series of episodes. Viewers can expect to see four hours of footage for the Season 24 closer, with the first two-hour installment airing on Monday, March 9 at 8 p.m. EST. The second half will premiere the following night on March 10 in the same time slot on ABC.
According to the network’s synopsis for the episodes, the first will see Peter travel with his final two to Alice Spring, Australia. It is there that he will introduce Madison Prewett and Hannah Ann Sluss to his family, though it won’t give him the “clarity” he’s looking for.
“...When Peter introduces the women to his family, their encounters set off an inescapable chain of emotional events that escalate beyond anything Peter could have imagined. Peter’s family clearly states its preference, culminating in a passionate plea from Peter’s mother, Barb. How will this impact the women? And where will that leave Peter?” states the synopsis.
Tuesday’s episode will pick up after Peter’s last dates with Madison and Hannah Ann before he makes his final decision. ABC has confirmed that Peter, Hannah Ann, and Madison will be live in-studio to discuss their “tumultuous days in Australia and the rollercoaster of events that have happened since” during the special.
As for why the finale is being separated into two, four-hour segments, Reality Steve has provided some insight. In a March 3 post, the spoiler blogger noted that viewers should expect to see multiple cast interviews during the special.
“I mean, we’re down to two women and they still have 4 hours of programming to kill. There will be a lot of filler stuff they need to do,” he wrote, noting the finale will likely be similar to Colton Underwood’s 2019 extended “The Bachelor” conclusion.
“Just be prepared for this thing to be dragged out,” he added.
Part one of the 2020 “The Bachelor” finale airs Monday, March 9, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC. Want to know who Peter picks before the finale? Find out HERE!
