‘The Bachelorette’ Villain Chad Johnson Reveals The Truth About Season 12 Drama, His Jordan Rodgers Threat
Chad Johnson has said his official goodbyes to his castmates on “The Bachelorette,” but this season’s villain still won't go away. On Monday, the ABC reality star appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to talk about his dramatic appearance on the dating series and whether or not he actually threatened JoJo Fletcher’s current front-running suitor, Jordan Rodgers.
“Great guy, real great guy,” Chad sarcastically quipped of Jordan, a former NFL player and brother to professional Aaron Rodgers, when asked by host Kimmel. When it came time to discuss his episode 4 threat to find Jordan after the show wrapped, Chad, who appeared via video chat, merely laughed.
“Look, it’s not like I would do that. Obviously I have people to do those type of things,” he said. “Honestly, at that point, I was just joking with him. I was just trying to get the guy to be quiet.”
Chad said the other men made his time on the show difficult, which made him feel like he had to act a certain way to scare them off. “There was a point where, like, I couldn’t even sleep in the next room, they were talking about me so much,” he dished. “I literally was just like, how crazy do I have to go until maybe they’ll think I’m insane and maybe they’ll just start to leave me alone.”
Chad asserted that he’s not as “hateable” in real life and reminded audiences that all of the personalities on the show are “amplified.” But when Kimmel commented that Chad’s plan to be this season’s “despicable jerk” has backfired now that that’s how the public perceives him, Chad didn’t seem to mind. “I’m pretty good at it,” he admitted.

Despite being kicked off the show in episode 4, Chad says his career has not suffered as a result of his behavior. The Tulsa, Oklahoma, luxury real estate agent says he’s surprised to see he’s found a lot of new customers after being on TV. And it’s not just his professional life that is doing well! Despite being cast on the coming season of ABC’s “Bachelor In Paradise,” Chad recently revealed on Instagram that he’s found a new love interest.
“While traveling this weekend, our paths crossed and I finally had the opportunity to meet Hope Higginbotham in person. Let me just say, she is even more beautiful in person!” Chad posted online Monday.
However, in true Chad fashion, the announcement doesn’t come without controversy. Higginbotham is an ex-girlfriend of Chad’s “Bachelorette” Season 12 co-star Robby Hayes. Hayes is rumored to have dumped her to star this season. “A great girl like her deserves so much better than someone who lies, cheats and ends a four year long relationship in order to pursue fame on a TV show,” Chad wrote. “You’re amazing, I miss you already.”
With no plans of being the next star of “The Bachelor” — Chad told Kimmel he likely came off too much the villain to snag the lead role — fans will have to settle watching him on “Bachelor In Paradise,” which premieres in August on ABC. “The Bachelorette” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT.
