Is Bailee Madison’s Grace Leaving ‘Good Witch’? Hallmark Reveals Cast Changes, Season 6 Renewal
UPDATE: July 3, 2:40 p.m. EDT -- Shortly after news broke of Bailee Madison’s (Grace) upcoming departure from Hallmark Channel’s “Good Witch” after five seasons, the actress took to Twitter to share her thoughts about her experience on the show and to give her thanks to both those involved with the project and to those who watch it at home.
“So grateful for 5 amazing seasons with #GoodWitch, the amazing cast and crew which have become like family and @hallmarkchannel,” Madison posted to Twitter on Wednesday. “They say that life is like a beautiful book, and everyone’s story is unique to them. As one chapter ends, a new one begins which is even more exciting and unexpected than the previous one.”
She continued: “Grace has been a character whose journey throughout the years has often mirrored my own and this season she is tackling what it’s like to step out of her comfort zone and challenge herself in new ways, looking boldly into the future and all the possibilities before her. I couldn’t be more grateful for the new adventures ahead, and to have you all along with me on the ride as my story continues to be written, and it’s a thrilling one.”
Madison closed out the note, “With love, respect and gratitude, Bailee.”
Original story: After Sunday’s episode of “Good Witch,” which featured Grace (Bailee Madison) getting accepted into college out of town, Goodies were left wondering if that meant the character would be leaving the show soon.
As it turns out, they had good reason to wonder about the character’s future.
Madison, who has been starring as Grace on the popular Hallmark drama since it began in 2015, is exiting the series, according to Deadline. While this news will likely upset fans, Hallmark’s combining the bad news with a little bit of good: “Good Witch” has officially been renewed for a Season 6!
“Once again, being the No. 1 series in cable, we are thrilled to announce a Season 6 pickup of ‘Good Witch,’” Michelle Vicary, EVP Programming & Publicity at Crown Media Family Networks, told the outlet. “Bailee Madison will always be a beloved member of the Hallmark family.”
There are still five episodes of Season 5 left to air, and Madison, who currently runs the “Just Between Us” podcast with her sister Kaitlin Vilasuso, will at least be in the next four, as details about the Season 5 finale (episode 10) have not yet been released. It’s likely she will be in the final episode of the season, as well, and that that’s where she’ll give her goodbyes and head off to college.
While this is a good and bad news type of situation, at least this announcement allows fans to not be completely blindsided by Grace leaving at the end of the season. Plus, now fans also have a whole new season of “Good Witch” to look forward to after this one ends.
“Good Witch” airs on Hallmark Channel on Sundays at 8 p.m. EDT. Season 5, episode 6, titled “The Prince,” is the next episode to air.
