‘Bates Motel’ Season 5 Spoilers: How Will Norman Try To Clear His Name?
Despite confessing to the murder of Sam Loomis (Austin Nichols) at the end of “Bates Motel” Season 5, episode 7, Norman (Freddie Highmore) will still try to prove his innocence in an upcoming episode of the A&E series.
According to TVLine, Norman — with the help of Mother (Vera Farmiga) — will throw someone close to him under the bus in an attempt to clear his name. Could this poor character be Madeleine Loomis (Isabelle McNally)?
Norman has gotten very close with Madeleine (Isabelle McNally) since the start of the season, and because Madeleine just recently found out that her husband, Sam, was having an affair with Marion Crane (Rihanna), it would be a lot easier for Norman to twist the facts and accuse her of murdering her own spouse.

Whether or not Norman will be able to clear his name by throwing someone under the bus, it seems that Norman won’t be staying long behind bars. The synopsis for next week’s Season 5, episode 8 states that his brother, Dylan (Max Thieriot), manages to get help for him.
While it’s unclear what exactly that help is, Dylan may have probably convinced the authorities that Norman is psychologically unstable and should be admitted to a mental facility rather than locked up in jail.
“He’s not a bad a person. He’s not a criminal. He’s [just] crazy,” Dylan tells someone in the preview clip for the episode.
The video also sees Romero (Nestor Carbonell) finally arriving at Bates Motel. Unfortunately for White Pine Bay’s former sheriff, his target, Norman, may not be around yet, as the establishment’s iconic neon light signage is noticeably off.
Meanwhile, TVLine also revealed that something happens in the first 30 minutes of episode 8 that suggests that fans will see more of Farmiga in the remaining episodes of the series.
“Bates Motel” Season 5, episode 8, titled “The Body,” airs on Monday, April 10 at 10 p.m. EST on A&E.
