‘Battle Of The Exes 2’ Episode 1 Sneak Peek: ‘Challenge’ Veterans Upset Over ‘Are You The One?’ Cast Addition [VIDEO]
“Battle of the Exes 2” will not be drama-free when Season 26 premieres on MTV in the New Year. Not only will “The Challenge” veterans learn they will have to work with their exes, a sneak peek video of episode 1 also shows there will be some additional tension when it is revealed that “The Real World/Road Rules” stars will have to compete alongside the casts of MTV’s “Are You The One?” and “The Real World: Ex-Plosion.”
The episode 1 first look shows “The Challenge” casts' arrival in Panama and host TJ Lavin’s announcement that the stars will have to team up with their exes for the entire season. The tension heats up after Lavin drops a bombshell on the veterans and introduces nine new rookies into the cast. With a $350,000 cash prize on the line, it's clear this season will be not be a stress-free ride for the 13 teams of two.
“Oh boy, it’s as if the Scooby Doo van just pulled up,” Johnny “Bananas” says in the clip after the “Are You The One?” and “The Real World: Ex-Plosion” stars make their way into “The Challenge” arena for the first time. “I mean each one is goofier looking than the next.”
Despite being fresh off his “Free Agents” win and learning he will be working with rookies, Johnny admits he is still nervous to compete this time around. “No matter how many ‘Challenges’ I do, walking in for the first time, the butterflies really get going,” he says.
While the clip shows that all of the veterans are visibly unhappy about the new cast additions, it’s Zach who appears to have the biggest problem with "The Challenge” newcomers. After calling Season 1 “Are You The One?” star John a “nerd,” he goes on to trash his new competitors in his behind-the-scenes interview.
“The ‘Are You The One?’ kids have no clue what kind of personal hell they’re about to go through,” Zach says. “This is our territory and they’re stepping onto it.”
Despite Zach’s negative reaction, John says he understand where his hostility comes from. “It’s understandable to think that they don’t want me here. I’m from a different show,” John says.
Things don’t get any easier for Zach after he learns he will have to work with his ex-girlfriend and former “Battle of the Seasons” co-star, Jonna. “My worst nightmare is coming true,” Zach says.
So why the tension? Zach says their relationship didn't exactly end on the best of terms. “One morning I looked at her and said, ‘I’m done.’ I thought my s--t didn’t stink and I screwed her over. I left,” Zach admits.
Despite their relationship ending abrupty nearly two years ago, and calling their Season 26 partnership "weird," Jonna says she will always hold a soft spot in her heart for her former flame. "To be honest, no matter how hard I try, I’m always going to love Zach,” she says.
As most “Challenge” fans already know, Chris “CT” will also return to compete with his longtime on-again, off-again girlfriend, the late Diem Brown. While viewers will have to wait until the "Battle of the Exes 2” premieres to see the fan-favorite couple reunite, CT did give a little insight into their Season 26 romance in the clip.
“I’m back. I can’t get enough, and more importantly, I heard Diem’s going to be here so I shaved my beard,” he says.
