'Battlefield 3' DLC Release Date Set For June, New Weapons Revealed And IOS App Launches [VIDEO]
Fans are gearing up for the new downloadable content pack to hit Battlefield 3 known as Close Quarters, which will be available this June. This is one of three DLC expansions to come to Battlefield gamers, with another debuting in the fall and a third in the winter.
With a recently released trailer and a new iOS Battelog application players are sure to be looking forward to the first person shooter's new content. According to a post in the Battlefield 3's Battlelog forum, a list of new weapons has also been revealed in the game's Wiki page.
This includes items divided into different categories, such as assault rifles, carbines, light machine guns, shotguns, and personal defense weapons. The assault rifles include the AUG and the SCAR-L, an ACW-R carbine will be featured in the additional content, two light machine guns called the L86A1 and the LSAT will appear, with an SPAS-12 shotgun will be thrown into gameplay.
At the end of March, a new set of unlocks was released for Battlefield 3 in which players would pay 3200 Microsoft points to gain access to content that would have otherwise been off limits.
Put it another way, it lets the rich/stupid pay to get on the same footing as those who bought the game at launch have had to put in a lot of hard work for, wrote Kotaku of The Ultimate Shortcut Bundle, which seemed to live up to its name.
But Apple fans are getting some Battlefield extras for free. Mac users, iPhone owners and iPad browsers can now keep track of their Battle feed on the go, with the new iOS app that just went mobile. The free downloadable app allows players to get real-time notifications when friends unlock new weapons or earn awards, track their progress with detailed soldier statistics, and see when their friends are playing.
In the meantime, be sure to check out the trailer for Close Quarters.
