Ben Affleck-Jennifer Garner Marriage Update: ‘Batman’ Actor Gushes Over Estranged Wife
“Batman” actor Ben Affleck might not be with Jennifer Garner any longer, but he still gushes about her as a mother. While promoting his new film, “The Accountant,” Monday, he praised his estranged wife for the way she’s raising their three children.
The topic came up when he was asked about Garner vouching for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in Nevada. “She’s in Reno. Doing what she believes in. Which is great. Think it’s awesome. And I’m so impressed by it — her and everything she does,” Affleck told Extra Monday. “She’s a great mom and that’s how it is.”
Even though they are estranged, Affleck and Garner co-parent their kids: Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Samuel, 4. “We both take them trick or treating,” he said, adding his children don’t have their costumes yet. “They’re still working on it. They haven’t decided on a character. I’m not gonna dress up this year. I’m gonna go as Dad.”
The adoration isn't one way. Garner opened up about her love for Affleck, adding how hard it is to love a man like him. “I didn’t marry the big fat movie star; I married him,” she told Vanity Fair in March. “And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again. You can’t have these three babies and so much of what we had. He’s the love of my life. What am I going to do about that? He’s the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous. He’s just a complicated guy. I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it.’ But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold. He can cast quite a shadow.”
Garner, 43, and Affleck, 44, split in June 2015 after 10 years of marriage. “After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the former lovers said in a statement to E! Online at the time. “We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time.”
