Bethenny Frankel called out Meghan Markle in a series of tweets ahead of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Frankel went on a Twitter tirade hours before Prince Harry and Markle's tell-all interview with Winfrey airs. In a series of tweets, she questioned the former "Suits" star and Prince Harry's choices because they seemed unsure of what they really want or don't want and urged them to face the consequences of their decisions. "The Real Housewives of New York City" star used to date Markle's former husband, Trevor Engelson.
"Cry me a river...the plight of being a game show host, fairly unknown actress, to suffering in a palace, w tiaras & 7 figure weddings for TWO WHOLE YEARS to being a household name w @Oprah on speed dial, fetching 7 m for interviews, hundreds of millions in media deals. #MARRY," she tweeted.
"I give Harry a break. This isn’t the way to generate less press & cannot be filed under the guise of wanting privacy to prevent a repeat of previous events. If you hate me for saying it here don’t listen to my podcast #justbwithbethenny it’s littered with my opinion," she added.
One netizen agreed with Frankel saying she "says what we in the UK are all thinking." The reality star retweeted the reply from the netizen and shared her stand on embracing scrutiny and criticisms as part of her job being a reality star.
"I chose reality tv, to work towards making $, to be scrutinized & criticized. I took the trappings & the beatings along with it. It’s a rose w petals & thorns. People beg to enter the often toxic institution I signed up for. That WAS the life I chose. You can’t play stupid & smart," she wrote.
Prince Harry and Markle’s critics have been calling them out for asking for privacy when they were in the U.K. but still doing interviews. When the couple stepped down from their royal duties, many thought they would keep themselves out from the spotlight, but they made a multimillion production deal with Netflix instead. They also sealed a deal with Spotify.
While many agreed with Frankel about her take on Prince Harry and Markle’s interview, some also sided with the Sussexes because they want to hear the duchess’ side.
"Not a white housewife comparing her struggle to Meghan’s. A woman of color joining the Royal Family. It’s the delusion for me," the "Selling Sunset" star Chrishell Stause commented. "Everyone is working overtime trying to silence her. Let us hear what she has to say!"
