‘Big Brother’ Season 19 Premiere Ratings Dip Low; Josh Martinez Goes Berserk On Day 2
“Big Brother” Season 19 premiered on Wednesday night, but its ratings weren’t as impressive as last season’s.
According to Variety, the two-hour premiere drew in a total of 5.9 million viewers and a 1.7 rating in adults aged 18 to 49. Last year, the premiere episode for Season 18 garnered a total of 6.2 million viewers and a 1.9 demo rating. But even though the figures for Season 19 are much lower than the last season, these numbers are still considered steady for a summer reality TV program.

Meanwhile, the second day in the “Big Brother” house saw Josh Martinez missing his family a little too much. Upon entering the house, Josh already left a bad impression on vet Paul Abrahamian. Other houseguests have also expressed their dislike for the stud as they think he’s too loud and obnoxious.
During the first Head of Household (HoH) game, Season 18 winner Nicole Franzel returned to host the competition. Worried that everyone was after him, Josh decided to grab the golden apple and kept himself safe in the game. But instead of just chilling after his win, Josh threw out a harsh statement at Megan Lowder. The former told the latter that she’s a snake. But what Josh didn’t realize is that Megan was not out to get him. In fact, the dog walker was targeting Paul, Mark Jansen and Cody Nickson.
After four teams went on the individual competition, Cody won over all of the other houseguests and became this week’s HoH. Even though he also expressed his dislike for Paul on day one, Cody built an alliance with Matt Clines and Mark. The three men decided to put Megan and Jillian Parker up for eviction. Cody explained his choice by saying that he just doesn’t like Megan and that Jillian was guilty by association.
Cody’s wise move was not to put a huge target on his back this early on in the game. Even though he doesn’t really trust Paul, the returning contestant realized it was too soon to get rid of “friendship” guy. On Sunday, either Megan or Jillian will leave the “Big Brother” house and will follow the footsteps of Cameron Heard, who was eliminated on Wednesday night.
“Big Brother” Season 19 airs Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
