'Billions' Season 6 Trailer Drops: 'We Wont' Keep You Waiting Long' [Video]
Showtime network took to Twitter on Oct. 2 to drop the highly anticipated trailer of "Billions" Season 6.
"Chuck Rhoades and Mike Prince can't wait to sink their teeth into each other, and we won't keep you waiting long either," the network captioned the trailer and noted that the new season will return in January 2022.
The announcement was made on the same day when Season 5's last episode titled "No Direction Home" was released.
The popular drama series revolves around an attorney named Chuck Rhoades and his journey in the competitive financial market. Season 5 reflected on Rhoades' vicious rivalry with a character named Bobby Axelrod.
Actor Damian Lewis portrayed Axelrod while Paul Giamatti played Rhoades in the series. It also stars Maggie Siff, Asia Kate Dillon, Malin Åkerman and Condola Rashad.
As per the newly released trailer, Axelrod's character won't return. The official Twitter handle of the show tweeted, "Bobby deserves a proper f***king send-off. Cheers to you, buddy boy."
Fans shared their reactions to their favorite character's exit from the show.
A fan wrote, "pls tell me that Damian Lewis will be back next season I'm not ready to say goodbye to Axe" while another fan wrote, "How could you do this to us? This is THE ONLY show I watch and now I lose my favorite character." A user wrote, "I was hoping for more Axe & Wendy, guess it’s time for Prince & Scooter."
The new season will focus on Michael Prince's character played by Corey Stoll.
The logline of the new season revealed that Prince will force Rhoades to work on a new strategy, which is more sophisticated than before. Actor Daniel Breaker, who played Prince's chief of staff, will become a regular character in the upcoming season.
The drama series' first season was released in January 2016. Lewis was part of the series for all five seasons. The show is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video and has received 89% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.4 rating on IMDb.
Season 6 of the series is slated to premiere on Jan. 23, 2022 at 9 p.m. ET.
