The wait for “Black Panther 2” release will be a long one. Cast member Martin Freeman, who is expected to reprise his role as Everett K. Ross, revealed in a recent interview that the production of the film will begin two years from now.

Chadwick Boseman’s character T’Challa became an instant hit when he was first introduced. With the success of the first “Black Panther,” the fans are now eagerly waiting to see the sequel. However, it will be a long time before the film will be released.

In a recent interview with Uproxx, Freeman said that the production of the film will not be starting next year. It appears to have been a while since he had a discussion about the movie, and he said that the last he heard about it was that the production may begin in 2021.

If the production were to start in 2021, the fans may not get to see the film in theaters until 2022. That will make it a four-year wait for “Black Panther 2” after the first movie was released in 2018.

The film will mark the return of T’Challa after the massive battle sequence in “Avengers: Endgame.” One character who hasn’t been seen since the Thanos (Josh Brolin) snap is CIA operative Everett K. Ross. Freeman confirmed that his character is alive. He jokingly pointed out that no one told him his character is dead, which means the character will be back in the “Black Panther 2.”

In a previous interview with Collider too Freeman expressed confidence that he will be returning in the sequel. Since there is still a lot of time before the production begins, few details about the plot and the cast have been released. Ryan Coogler will be returning to write the script and direct the movie.

“Black Panther 2” is a part of Marvel Phase 5. The film may mark a new beginning for the superhero with new characters from the comics joining. One character from the comics that some fans would like to see is Namor the Submariner, Screen Rant reported.
