Blake Lively In Talks To Play A Surfer In Upcoming Shark Movie ‘In The Deep’
Blake Lively is diving head first into the deep end -- the deep blue end, that is. According to reports, the 27-year-old actress is in talks to appear in Sony’s forthcoming oceanic thriller titled “In the Deep.”
The film, which is being directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who previously directed the flicks “Run All Night” and “Non-Stop,” will focus on the heartrending storyline of a surfer who is “coping with the loss of her mother.” However, the script, written by Anthony Jaswinski, will take an even more tragic turn when the movie’s protagonist finds herself stranded in the middle of the ocean on a buoy.
While drifting at sea, the surfer runs into an even larger, toothier problem. According to the film's synopsis, the movie’s lead will come face-to-fin with a “gigantic great white shark” who is blocking the surfer’s path to land … and life.
Entertainment Weekly reported that one of the reasons Lively, who recently starred in the romantic drama “The Age of Adeline,” is only in talks to star in the nail-biting flick is that it may become a scheduling conflict with her impending role in Woody Allen’s upcoming movie. Hollywood Reporter revealed that filming for the yet-to-be-titled Allen film will begin later this month.
Although it’s unknown whether Lively, who welcomed daughter James into the world with her husband Ryan Reynolds in December 2014, will take part in the shark thriller, we’re crossing our fingers that the blond-haired Hollywood heartthrob takes the plunge. The reason being, the Wrap has described the future project as a mix between “127 Hours” and “Jaws” -- and we definitely want to see the "Gossip Girl" star take on an ocean beast rather than Chuck Bass.
Lively is currently filming the 2016 Marc Forster drama “All I See Is You,” which also stars Yvonne Strahovski, Jason Clark and Danny Huston.
