Brian Austin Green 'Not Surprised' Megan Fox Got Engaged To Machine Gun Kelly: Report

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly shocked fans and social media users when they announced their engagement this week, but her estranged husband Brian Austin Green had long seen the news coming, according to a report.

An insider "close" to Green, 48, told E! News that the "Beverly Hills, 90210" alum—who split from Fox, 35, in late 2019 after nearly 10 years of marriage—was "not surprised she got engaged and knew it was coming."

Green continues to focus on co-parenting his three sons with Fox: Noah, 9, Bodhi, 7, and Journey, 5, according to the unnamed source. Green is also dad to 19-year-old son Kassius, whom he shares with ex Vanessa Marcil.

"He's focused on his kids and just being there for them," the insider added of the actor.

Fox announced that she was engaged to Kelly after over a year of dating by sharing a clip of his proposal on Instagram Wednesday.

"In July of 2020, we sat under this banyan tree," Fox wrote in the caption of her post. "We asked for magic. We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time. Unaware of the work and sacrifices the relationship would require from us but intoxicated off of the love. And the karma."

"Somehow a year and a half later, having walked through hell together, and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he asked me to marry him," she continued. "And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes.…and then we drank each other's blood. 1.11.22."

Fox and Kelly began dating in May 2020 after meeting on the set of the Randall Emmett-directed film "Midnight in the Switchgrass."

In the same month, Green confirmed that he and Fox had gone their separate ways. Divorce proceedings for the exes started in November that year. However, a judge ruled in December 2021 that the pair must resubmit new paperwork due to errors in order to be declared legally single.

An anonymous source close to Fox previously told E! News that the actress and Green have had a "much more peaceful co-parenting relationship" after parting ways and finding love with other partners.

"They are all adjusting to this situation well," the source added. "The kids like spending time with both parents and their significant others. Everyone is doing a lot better."

Five months after announcing his split from Fox, Green started dating "Dancing with the Stars" pro Sharna Burgess. They celebrated their first anniversary as a couple in October last year, gushing over each other on their respective Instagram accounts.

Green shared an adorable picture of them and wrote: "1 year of accepting me in a way I’ve never been loved before. #damnimlucky."

Burgess marked the milestone by sharing clips and photos showing how their first year as a couple went.

"1 year ago yesterday my whole world changed," she wrote. "I just didn’t know it yet. You’re everything I’ve ever wanted in 1 person and the way you love me is something I couldn’t even have dreamed of. I never knew it existed until you. I love you baby, and I love doing life with you. 1 down, and all of them to go."
