Britney Spears' first husband showed up at her house Thursday, hours before she wed fiancé Sam Asghari.
Jason Alexander, to whom Spears was married for 55 hours in 2004, attempted to crash her wedding to Asghari at her home in Thousand Oaks, California, Thursday, TMZ reported.
After arriving at the pop star's residence as final preparations for her wedding were underway, the 40-year-old went live on Instagram and claimed, "Britney Spears invited me here. She's my first wife. My only wife. I'm her first husband. I'm here to crash the wedding 'cause nobody [is] here but Sam. So where the f–k's the family?"
A physical struggle allegedly ensued between Alexander and Spears' security. Alexander was able to make it inside the singer's home, where he continued to stream, before he was restrained by security outside.
Officers with the Ventura County Sheriff's Department responded to Spears' home for a trespassing report. They arrested Alexander and booked him on several charges, including trespassing, vandalism and battery related to his physical altercations with Spears' security, according to the outlet.
Alexander also has a felony warrant for larceny in another county, TMZ learned from unnamed sources. He remains in custody.
"Jason Alexander has been handcuffed, taken into custody and arrested. I express my thanks to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department for their prompt response and good work," Spears' lawyer Mathew Rosengart told Page Six. "I'm working closely with law enforcement to ensure Mr. Alexander is aggressively prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
Alexander publicly supported Spears during her conservatorship battle, including attending a #FreeBritney movement rally in Los Angeles in 2020.
However, he reportedly has a history of lurking outside the homes of the singer's family. They were "disturbed" when he visited their homes in Louisiana unannounced in January, an unnamed source told Page Six at the time.
"They think it's incredibly inappropriate and downright weird," the insider said. "It's bad enough that the family has to deal with fans getting too close for comfort, but they'd like to think they can expect more from Jason, who claims to still have so much love and respect for Britney."
Spears and Alexander annulled their marriage in January 2004, just hours after the pair eloped at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. The "Toxic" hitmaker wed Kevin Federline later that year, but they called it quits in 2007. She shares sons Preston, 16, and Jayden, 15, with Federline, 44.
Spears began dating Asghari, 28, in 2016. They got engaged in September 2021, two months before her 13-year conservatorship came to an end.
The singer's sons were not present during her wedding to Asghari, according to Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan.
"The boys are not going to be in attendance at the wedding," Kaplan, who oversees the former couple's custody case, told Page Six. "They think the focus of this day should be on Britney and Sam, and they are very happy for her moving forward."
Kaplan did not confirm whether Spears' children did not receive an invitation from their mom or if it was their choice not to attend the nuptials, but the lawyer said, "You can assume that the boys were welcomed to attend if they expressed that desire."
As for Federline, Kaplan said that his client "wants her to be happy and believes this will be a positive step for her in a post-conservatorship era, building a healthy, happy future going forward."
