Britney Spears' lawyer has requested the suspension of her father, Jamie Spears, following allegations that the singer's conservators were monitoring her phone and bugging her home.

Spears' attorney, Mathew Rosengart, filed a new supplemental motion Monday calling for the immediate suspension of Spears' father "no later than" this week's hearing on Wednesday, Variety reported. The lawyer also asked for the "prompt termination" of the pop star's conservatorship.

The new court filing mentioned allegations recently reported by The New York Times claiming that a security firm hired by Spears' father without her knowledge was monitoring the singer.

The report alleged that Spears' dad and her former business managers, Lou Taylor and Robin Greenhill of Tri Star Sports and Entertainment, ran an intense surveillance apparatus that tracked her communications. They allegedly secretly captured audio recordings from her bedroom, which included private conservations with her children, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15.

Spears' lawyer called for an investigation of the claims, stating that the singer's father allegedly "engaged in horrifying and unconscionable invasions of his adult daughter’s privacy."

Spears' home that was allegedly bugged is in California, which is a two-party consent state. This means it could be illegal for Spears' phone to be tracked without her consent.

"Unauthorized recording or monitoring of Britney’s private communications — especially attorney-client communications, which are a sacrosanct part of the legal system — represent an unconscionable and disgraceful violation of her privacy rights and a striking example of the deprivation of her civil liberties," Rosengart said in a statement obtained by Variety.

"Placing a listening device in Britney’s bedroom would be particularly horrifying, and corroborates so much of her compelling, poignant testimony. Mr. Spears has crossed unfathomable lines," he continued, referring to Spears' public testimony in June in which she described her conservatorship as "abusive."

Rosengart claimed that there is "overwhelming evidence" to remove Spears' father from her conservatorship. The filing said that reasons for Jamie's suspension range from "lack of financial acumen, to his bankruptcy, to his reported alcoholism, to the trauma he caused his daughter since her childhood, to the Domestic Violence Restraining Order recently issued against him."

According to the lawyer, the singer has asked that "regardless of when the conservatorship ends, Mr. Spears must be suspended now."

Jamie stated in court documents filed in August that he was "willing to step down when the time is right" but said he would only do so after an orderly transition.

But earlier this month, Spears' father asked a judge to end her conservatorship, saying that recent events have shown that she "should get that chance" to control her own affairs. In his filing, he suggested that the judge could order an end to the conservatorship without a further psychiatric evaluation.

Spears' petition to remove her father will be addressed during a hearing in Los Angeles Wednesday.
