  • Madonna said she recently spoke with Britney Spears to congratulate her on her recent engagement

  • Madonna said her 24-year-old daughter is "way more talented than" she was

Madonna is showing her support for Britney Spears as the latter continues to fight to end her 13-year conservatorship.

During a chat with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of her new documentary concert film "Madame X" at The Edition Hotel Times Square Thursday, Madonna, 63, revealed that she talked to her "Me Against The Music" collaborator over the phone earlier that day.

"[I was] just checking in on her, and congratulating her on her marriage. Or her pending marriage," the pop icon said of her conversation with Spears.

"I love her," Madonna added with a smile.

Spears recently announced her engagement to her boyfriend of five years Sam Asghari, following months of legal drama with her father Jamie Spears over what she described as an "abusive" conservatorship. Madonna has been vocal about her support for Spears and the #FreeBritney movement throughout her fellow pop superstar's conservatorship battle.

In the same interview, Madonna also gushed over her talented daughter, Lourdes Leon, who made her Met Gala red carpet debut earlier this month. Discussing her daughter's career, the singer said that she feels "anything is possible for [Lourdes]."

"She's way more talented than I was, [or] am," Madonna added. "I'm really proud of her."

The 24-year-old model recently appeared in Rihanna's third Savage X Fenty show, which Leon teased Tuesday by sharing a series of photos on Instagram of herself rocking a teal latex bra, panties and thigh-high boots and a matching robe.

Leon also covered Vogue's September issue alongside Bella Hadid, Precious Lee, Kaia Gerber, Anok Yai, Ariel Nicholson, Sherry Shi and Yumi Nu for the fashion magazine's cover feature titled "Generation America: The Models Changing an Industry."

In her interview, Leon spoke about finding her own path and addressed some misconceptions about her. She revealed that she paid her own college tuition and lives outside of Hollywood in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City.

"People think I'm this talentless rich kid who's had everything given to her, but I'm not," said Leon, whom Madonna shares with ex Carlos Leon.

Leon also said that she shares her mom's passion for dancing. "A teacher of mine made me understand movement in a whole new way," she explained. "You're using your body to define the space around you -- to change it. That's a very naked form of expression."

Meanwhile, Madonna teased what fans can expect from her upcoming documentary, which recounts her most recent concert tour. "Great art, thoughtfulness, incredible dancing, incredible music," she said, "provocation, politics, spirituality, family. Everything."

Madonna's new concert documentary will exclusively premiere on Paramount+ on Oct. 8.
