Britt Robertson Replaces Britne Oldford In Shonda Rhimes’ ‘For The People’
“Girlboss” alum Britt Robertson will join Shonda Rhimes’ upcoming drama, “For the People.”
According to Deadline, the actress will be replacing Britne Oldford in the lead role of Sandra. Oldford was originally cast in the upcoming ABC project, and she also appeared in the pilot. Sandra is described as a fiercely independent public defender who was inspired to become a lawyer after her family suffered from an injustice.
“For the People” will center on a group of lawyers who are working on both sides of the courtroom. According to TV Line, Rhimes will serve as an executive producer for the series that will premiere sometime mid-season. However, the official release date for the series hasn’t been announced by ABC yet. “For the People” was picked up by ABC after two of Rhimes’ TV shows were canceled.
“The Catch” was axed after only two seasons. “Scandal” Season 7, on the other hand, will also be the last for the Kerry Washington-starrer. Meanwhile, ABC released a teaser for “For the People,” which features all of the main characters coming together at the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York or the Mother Court. A judge gives them a brief lecture and tells them that it’s almost always impossible to win cases that are filed against the federal government.
However, each other lawyers have different reactions to the judge’s statement. Some of them will rise to the occasion, while others are meant to crumble with the pressure. Elsewhere in the clip, some of the lawyers will also butt heads with each other. One of them enters the court room and discovers that she has been assigned to defend the man who tried to blow up the Statue of Liberty. But “For the People” will not only unveil information about the characters while tending to their clients. The series will also shed light on their personal lives.
“For the People” has some very obvious similarities with “How to Get Away With Murder.” The latter, which stars Viola Davis, follows the life of a group of would-be lawyers and their professor, Annalise Keating.
