BTS' Jin Releases 'Yours' OST For K-Drama 'Jirisan'; Track Dominates iTunes In 82 Countries
BTS' Kim Seok-jin, also known as Jin, released a solo track titled "Yours" over the weekend. The mellow ballad, which is included in the official soundtrack of top-rating Korean drama "Jirisan," has soared to the No. 1 spot on iTunes in 82 countries, including the U.S.
The song was first played in the drama Saturday and was subsequently released on music platforms, including YouTube, Sunday. Since its premiere on the platform, the track has racked up nearly one million views.
Meanwhile, the K-drama's production company, Astory, as well as the original soundtrack's production company, Most Contents confirmed that "Yours" is the show's main theme song, which will play during key moments in the series.
The music video features important scenes from the drama, which stars one of Jun Ji-hyun, one of South Korea's highest-paid actresses, and her fellow "Kingdom" star Joo Ji-hoon.
"Jirisan" is a mystery drama series written by Kim Eun-hee, who also penned the zombie series "Kingdom" and the 2016 thriller show "Signal." It revolves around the story of two mountain rangers who accidentally uncover the truth behind a mysterious accident on Mount Jirisan. The series premiered on Oct. 23 and is currently being streamed on Rakuten Viki and iQiyi.
As for the song "Yours," it was written by Gaemi and JIDA and arranged by Kim Se-jin and Midnight.
The track set a new record for K-pop solo songs released in 2021 after claiming the No. 1 spot on iTunes Top Songs charts in 82 countries, including the U.S., the U.K., Japan, France, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Russia, Thailand, Sweden, United Arab Emirates and the Philippines, according to Soompi.
Fans have praised Jin's emotional rendition of the song, which is said to complement the theme of the drama. The chorus of the track perfectly encapsulates the intense desire of the characters to reveal their feelings to each other as it goes, "Every day you seem too far away / Every time you do, I tell myself / I'm waiting right here / Every night I see you in my heart / Every time I do, I end up crying / When I call you in the darkness."
The BTS member took to Weverse Saturday to reply to fans' comments about the track. He even told a fan that he's been watching the K-drama in anticipation of the track.
