Chadwick Boseman won his first Golden Globe award six months after his passing.

The "Black Panther" star was awarded the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama for his movie "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" at the 2021 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday. His widow Taylor Simone Ledward accepted the award on his behalf and mentioned the people Boseman would have thanked like director George C. Wolfe, producer Denzel Washington and co-star Viola Davis.

"He would say something beautiful, something inspiring, something that would amplify that little voice inside of all of us that tells you you can, that tells you to keep going, that calls you back to what you are meant to be doing at this moment in history," Ledward was quoted by Entertainment Weekly a saying.

"I don't have his words, but we have to take all the moments to celebrate those we love, so thank you HFPA for this opportunity to do exactly that, and hun, you keep 'em coming," she concluded.

Many netizens were extremely happy for Boseman after being recognized by the HFPA.

"Hey amazing talents! I’m so happy and thrilled that the late @chadwickboseman won the Golden Globe for Best Actor. His acting performance is my favorite of 2020. Should also win the Oscar next month. How was filming @MaRaineyFilm?" one tweeted.

"I miss him so much #WakandaForever," another commented on Golden Globe Awards' tweet about Boseman's victory.

"His wife's acceptance speech broke my heart," a different user wrote.

"A captivating performance. A beautiful delivery. Chadwick Boseman transcends as Levee. #MaRaineyFilm," another fan commented.

Boseman succumbed to cancer on Aug. 28 after battling the disease for four years. Many were shocked by his passing because they never thought he was sick as he kept his health issue a secret to most of the people he worked with.

Only a few members of Boseman's team were aware of his condition. His longtime agent Michael Greene of Greene & Associates Talent Agency said one of the reasons he kept his condition a secret was due to the way his mom Carolyn brought him up.

"[She] always taught him not to have people fuss over him," Greene said. "He also felt in this business that people trip out about things, and he was a very, very private person."
