  • Charli and Dixie D’Amelio won MrBeast's $300,000 Creator Games 2 tournament Saturday
  • Dixie beat comic book artist and YouTuber ZHC in the final trivia round
  • The sisters were accused by viewers and social media users of cheating during the contest

Charli and Dixie D’Amelio received flak after being declared winners of MrBeast’s second Creator Games tournament, which offered a $300,000 reward.

MrBeast’s first Creator Games event was a hit, with the Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament attracting around 660,000 viewers earlier this year. The second one was even bigger, with nearly 1 million viewers tuning in to watch stars compete in challenges determined by a "Wheel of Games" on Saturday. Aside from the D'Amelio sisters, other stars who joined the Creator Games 2 included Bretman Rock, KSI and Addison Rae.

Even though Charli and Dixie were competing as a team, MrBeast allowed only one of them to take part in the final trivia round against comic book artist and YouTuber ZHC. Dixie managed to defeat her opponent and win $300,000, which the sisters donated to their fans in need.

Though the competition was a lighthearted event held for a good cause, some viewers were not happy when the D’Amelio sisters won. Some YouTube and social media users accused Charli and Dixie of cheating, while others thought it was unfair that they had brought their parents along when they participated in the event.

One comment on MrBeast's YouTube video that simply says, "Everyone who's annoyed the D'amelios cheated," has received over 1,800 likes.

Another YouTube user wrote, "1:46:39 is when they copied someone else’s answers. 3:02:00 is when they used other screens to google answers."

"I know I was so mad because their parents literally did everything except for the math stuff and then they cheated too," a third viewer commented.

One fan took their frustration to Twitter and commented on MrBeast's tweet: "This is my first ever tweet and I know that you know the D'amelio family looked at their phone sometimes and of course their parents were not included in the matching....but you let them in anyway and that is not what you do in a competition like this!!!"

Responding to the backlash, MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, took to Twitter to explain that the contest was just for fun but acknowledged that he made a mistake in allowing Charli and Dixie to compete as a team instead of individuals.

"I see some people mad that I let multiple people compete on a single team in the trivia tournament! Honestly, the tournament was just for fun and to bring the community together and I’d appreciate if you were to get mad at anyone, get mad at me. It was my decision lol," he wrote.

"The criticism is noted and I’ll definitely keep all the teams the same size next time! 100% my b," he added in a follow-up tweet.

Meanwhile, the D’Amelio sisters recently hired Greg Goodfried, a top digital talent executive, as president of D’Amelio Family Enterprises, Los Angeles Times reported. Goodfried is expected to help the family build an empire similar to that of the Kardashian clan.

Charli and Dixie together boast a following of approximately 200 million on social media platforms. While their father Marc has a following of 7.3 million on TikTok, their mother Heidi is not far behind with 6.1 million followers.

While Charli makes around $4 million a year only from TikTok, Dixie rakes in about $2.9 million, Forbes reported.
