Courteney Cox Reveals 'Scream 6' Production Plan: 'Let Me Tell You The Killer'
Courteney Cox revealed she has already received the script of "Scream 6" and the filming of the sixth installment is all set to begin in June.
"I got the script yesterday. I haven't read it yet, I just got it," Cox disclosed during the “Just For Variety” podcast on Wednesday. "I'm excited to read it, and I know they're gonna start filming I think in June, in Canada. I don't know if I'm supposed to say anything."
"Let me tell you the killer!" the actress teased.
Considering the filming schedule, fans can expect the movie to release in 2023. However, it is unclear if actress Neve Campbell (who played Sidney Prescott in the first installment) will once again return for the sixth installment.
In the previous installment, "Scream 5" original cast members including Cox, Campbell and David Arquette were featured. However, the fifth installment marked Arquette's exit from the film franchise as his character named Dwight 'Dewey' Riley got killed.
The first installment of the franchise released in 1996 was helmed by director Wes Craven. Only a year later, in 1997, its second installment came out. At that time, the names of the killers were leaked before the release, due to which the movie had to be rewritten and refilmed.
The franchise's third installment didn't arrive until three years later, in 2000. It took the franchise 11 years to release the movie's fourth installment, which hit the theaters in 2011.
After another 11 years of wait, fans got to see the fifth installment, which was released on Jan. 14. This installment was helmed by directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
On the business front, the fifth installment was made with $24 million of budget and it earned $139.5 million at the box office.
Besides "Scream 6," Cox was recently seen in the comedy-horror TV series, "Shining Vale," which dropped its first episode on March 6. The actress plays Patricia 'Pat' Phelps' character in the series.
Cox will be next seen in a TV series, titled "Last Chance U," which is currently under pre-production. She will be playing author Brittany Wagner on-screen.
