Dallas McCarver’s Girlfriend Dana Brooke Instagrammed Loving Picture Before Bodybuilder’s Death
WWE superstar Dana Brooke took to Instagram Monday to talk gush over her boyfriend, star bodybuilder Dallas McCarver, who was her "Man Crush Monday." Brooke's photo was posted hours before McCarver tragically died at the age of 26. A cause of death was not immediately known, but it was suspected he choked on food and suffocated.
“Still got some time left to post #mcm — someone who day in and day out is helping and giving so much to so many people ! [Dallas] is one of the most genuine people I have ever met,” she wrote. The post was liked more than 6,000 times by her 529,000 followers.
Earlier in the day, Brooke enjoyed the solar eclipse. “After an amazing day visiting the officers and their families -- they allowed us to see this super exciting eclipse — such a cool day!! And love touching their lives!!” she penned.
Brooke, 28, hasn’t issued an official statement on her boyfriend’s untimely death. She did speak to TMZ, telling them she talked to McCarver on the phone before he cooked himself dinner Monday. The last thing he said to her was, “I love you. Goodbye.”
McCarver was found unconscious by a friend. There weren’t any signs of foul play and it didn’t appear he had harmed himself, TMZ wrote.
The star bodybuilder appeared well hours before his death. He took to Instagram to share a video of him lifting 160-pound dumbbells. “Could've been a little slower and better under control with these 160s today... but sometimes you've just got to let the intensity flow. Great chest day with @josh_lenartowicz in @project_flex_fl #DragonsLair! That damn @redcon1official #Silencer had me sweating like a whore in church boy! Whew!!!!” he wrote. The post was liked more than 357,000 times by his 471,000 followers.
McCarver burst into the bodybuilding scene was he was 21 years old. Soon after, he started to win big competitions and made a name for himself. He took 8th place last year’s Mr. Olympia competition.
The athlete wasn’t always the epitome of health, though. He passed out on stage at the 2017 Arnold Classic Australia in March. Since then, however, he had apparently been doing better.
While some fans are mourning the death of McCarver, others are pulling for superstar bodybuilder Rich Piana. He fell unconscious Aug. 7 and was placed in a medically induced coma after first responders were unable to revive him.
Piana was public about his steroid use, juicing for more than 20 years. He argued it was necessary to dope if one was to seriously compete in bodybuilding.
“If you have the choice to stay natural or do steroids, stay natural. There’s no reason to do steroids, you’re only hurting your body, you’re hurting yourself,” he said in an April 2016 YouTube video. “If you want to become a professional bodybuilder, guess what – you’re probably going to have to f---in’ do ‘em. You’re not going to have a choice.”
His girlfriend, Chanel Jansen, took to Instagram last week to reveal Piana was still in a coma. “The only update I'm permitted to give at this time is that he is alive, he is OK, and the excellent medical professionals here as well as myself and his close loved ones are doing all we can to get him back to a full recovery,” Jansen wrote. “Please continue to remain patient and respectful. This is a very stressful time for Rich and everyone around him so please understand if we're quiet. It's with good reason.”
