‘Dancing With The Stars’ 2017: How The Remaining Season 24 Duos Prepared For Week 8
“Dancing With the Stars” viewers are in for another twist in Season 24, Week 8. The remaining five duos will perform two routines on Monday night before saying goodbye to yet another team.
The first routine of the night will be to a song and style of the pro partner’s choosing. For the second Week 8 dance, teams of three will compete together in a face-off. The judges will be deciding the trios, which is a change from previous years.
The judges will be pulling both eliminated “DWTS” pros and troupe members for the trio routines. Witney Carson, who was eliminated in Week 2, and Alan Bersten, who danced with Heather Morris during Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s temporary absence, will both return to the ballroom Monday night. The other dancers in the three-partner routines will be fresh and new faces.
“DWTS” viewers are in for an eclectic show. In the first portion alone they’ll be treated to a Foxtrot, Argentine Tango, Jive and more. Part two will see two Paso Doble routines and a Jazz dance, as well as additional Argentine Tango and Jive routines.
Hopefully the teams and their temporary new additions are on top of their game in Week 8. The last two weeks on “DWTS” have been full of surprises at elimination time. In Week 7, Team Blades of Glory (Artem Chigvintsev and Nancy Kerrigan) and Team Baby Got Bach (Peta Murgatroyd and Nick Viall) were both axed in favor of Team Lady and the Gramp (Lindsay Arnold and David Ross), while the week prior saw Team Maksimum Heat (Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Heather Morris) sent packing after getting their first perfect score.
How’d they prepare for their upcoming performances? Check out the latest updates from the remaining Season 24 “DWTS” duos:
Team Golden Giggles
Simone Biles and Sasha Farber were hard at work this weekend. When they weren’t partying with their “DWTS” co-stars at an EraseMS event, which aimed to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis, they were in the practice studio. They were joined in the studio by troupe member Brittany Cherry, who’ll be dancing their trio routine with them.
It looks like Simone continued to work on being sexy and she’s absolutely nailing it. She shared a behind the scenes look at a shoot for “DWTS,” in which she’s posing in what appears to be a cement box. It’s a mystery what exactly the shoot is for, but a number of her “DWTS” competitors shared photos from this same set.
Sasha shared his own photo dispatch from weekend practices, showing “DWTS” fans just how well he and Simone are getting along. The pair are shown hugging and laughing in one Instagram photo from Sunday, while Sasha jumps for joy behind Simone in another. Despite a number of updates, Team Golden Giggles has left us completely in the dark as to what they’re working on for Week 8.
They’ll be performing a Foxtrot to “What Makes Your Beautiful” by One Direction in the first half of Week 8. For their trio dance, Simone, Sasha and Brittany will be dancing a Paso Doble to “Don’t Let Me Down” by the Chainsmokers ft. Daya.
Team Valmani
Val Chmerkovskiy and Normani Kordei love to keep fans guessing. The pair, who have been leading the competition, shared almost nothing from their weekend practices. In fact, Val shared just one photo.
In it, he’s posing pensively on a set. The light coming from behind him reduces him to little more than a shadowy figure. Val did little to quell fans desire for information with his caption, which was an emoji.
Despite the lack of updates, we know Val and Normani will be performing a Contemporary routine to “Freedom” by Anthony Hamilton and Elayna Boynton. For their trio routine, they’ll enlist the help of Alan Bersten in doing a Jive to “Feeling Alive” by Earl St. Clair.
Team Lady And The Gramp
Lindsay and David didn’t share a single update with “DWTS” fans about their practice, but we’re sure they were busy. They’ll be performing a Waltz to “Humble and Kind” by Tim McGraw. In the second portion of Week 8, they’ll dance a Paso Doble with troupe member Hayley Erbert to “Gangsta’s Paradise” by 2WEI.
Team Denim N Diamonds
Sharna and Bonner are keeping romance rumors alive and bringing sexy to the stage in Week 8 on “DWTS.” The pair are set to perform an Argentine Tango to “Believer” by Imagine Dragons in the first half of Monday’s show. A behind-the-scenes photo posted to Instagram suggests it’s going to be a steamy routine.
Bonner shared a clip from the same moment, sharing with fans how “excited” he is for Week 8. The bull rider wrote that he couldn’t wait to do his two dances with Sharna and troupe member Britt Stewart. Here’s hoping they score high enough to stay in the game.
Team Denim N Diamonds’ trio dance will be a Jazz routine. They’ll be performing to “That’s What I Like” by Bruno Mars. The performance should be another opportunity for them to wow with their footwork and their chemistry, which viewers can’t get enough of.
Team Shad Squad
Emma Slater and Rashad Jennings were busy ahead of Week 8. The pair stopped by Access Hollywood for a visit, partied at the EraseMS event with their “DWTS” co-stars and prepped for their upcoming dances.
The NFL superstar shared a few photos from their practice space, welcoming Witney Carson to their team temporarily. In his Instagram caption, he revealed that he, Emma and Witney are performing an Argentine Tango in Week 8. Based on the photos, it seems fans should expect some high-flying tricks peppered throughout the routine!
Other than that, Rashad and Emma remain focused on their own little competition. For weeks the pair have been trying to outdo one another with their over-the-top outfits, which display their “reckless zest for life.” Emma shared one from the studio in which she’s sporting blue suede boots, a pleated floral skirt and a nude top while waiting for Rashad to show up.
The pair will kick off their two performances with a Jive. They’re performing to “Shake a Tail Feather” by the Blues Brothers.
Tune in to “DWTS” Monday at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
