‘Dancing With The Stars’ Pro Kym Johnson Doesn’t Want To Marry Robert Herjavec In ‘DWTS’ Inspired Wedding Gown
Kym Johnson doesn’t want to be bedazzled on her wedding day.
Recently, the “Dancing With the Stars” pro went dress shopping with bridal expert Carson Kressley to pick out the perfect dress for her marriage to Robert Herjavec. But the dancer, whose worn her fair share of sparkles while competing on the hit ABC series, revealed that she has a clear vision of what she wants to wear on her big day — and it didn’t involve sequins!
“I think people see me on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ with all the rhinestones and this and that and think I’m going to go with something sparkly. But I feel like I’m going to go with something a bit more simple,” she revealed to People magazine.
Johnson elaborated, stating that the key elements she’s looking for in a wedding dress are elegance and simplicity. “I don’t want to go with something that I’ll look back on in 20 years and say, ‘Oh, gosh. What was I thinking?’”
Even though Johnson won’t sport a “DWTS” inspired gown when she marries the “Shark Tank” star, who competed with her during Season 20, she will pay tribute to the long-running dancing series during her first dance with Herjavec. The couple revealed during Elton John’s annual Oscars party in February that they’ll perform one of their “DWTS” routines as their wedding dance together.
So which number will they revive on the dance floor? Could it be their foxtrot to Michael Buble’s “You Make Me Feel So Young” or their contemporary routine to “Champagne Kisses” by Jessie Ware? Well, according to the Mirror Ball winning Aussie, she and Herjavec will perform a dance that never quite made it into the ballroom.
Johnson, who was eliminated with Herjavec from the 2015 competition during Week 8, revealed that they had already started working on their Week 9 routine when they received the ballroom boot.
“When we were on the show last year, the week before we got kicked off, they gave us a song. And it was Etta James’ ‘At Last,” Herjavec told Us Weekly.
“We were given that song when we were on [‘Dancing With the Stars’], and I started choreographing it,” Johnson told People magazine. “We were really excited to do the dance because we were starting to fall in love with each other. But then we got voted out and we were a bit disappointed we didn’t get to dance that dance.”
However, it looks like Johnson and Herjavec will get to perform their beloved number ... at last!
