‘Dancing With The Stars’ Season 23: ‘Bachelorette’ JoJo Fletcher, Olympian Simone Biles And More Rumored To Join 2016 Cast
Rumors are continuing to swirl about which celebrities will be competing for the Mirror Ball trophy when “Dancing With the Stars” returns in September. While ABC won’t announce the official Season 23 cast for a few more weeks, reports have surfaced that Olympic gymnast Simone Biles and “Bachelorette” star JoJo Fletcher could be shimmying and shaking across the ballroom floor on the dancing competition show.
Sources told E! Online that both Biles and Fletcher have been tapped to appear on “Dancing With the Stars” this season. The two ladies will supposedly join former “Wizards of Waverly Place” star Jake T. Austin. If Biles does appear on the show, she won’t be the first of the “Final Five” to showcase her dance moves in an effort to win the coveted Mirror Ball. Aly Raisman competed on Season 6 in 2013 coming in fourth with partner Mark Ballas.
Of course, Fletcher also won’t be the only Bachelor Nation alum to have competed on the show. A number of former “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” stars have found themselves on the cast, including Chris Soules, Trista Sutter, Sean Lowe and Jake Pavelka.
According to Us Weekly, “Dancing With the Stars” producers are really hoping Biles will sign on for the show. . “They would love to cast some Olympians if possible,” the source said. Thankfully, the 19-year-old gold medalist winner seems onboard to compete, but only if her busy schedule allows it. “I think ‘Dancing With the Stars’ would be so cool,” Biles told the outlet. “I can’t dance, but that’s what it’s for. I don’t know — we’ll be so busy, we have tour, and if that happens, and I can do it, that would be amazing.”
So who else could fans see on the cast this year? Even though Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps said he can’t dance, he previously told Us Weekly that he wouldn’t rule out competing on “Dancing With the Stars” since his fellow Olympians Apollo Ohno and Natalie Coughlin said they had so much fun doing it. “I haven’t really been known for my dancing,” he said. “They said they’ve enjoyed it and had a blast. I won’t say I’m ruling anything out, who knows?”
Former “General Hospital” star Emma Samms also sparked rumors she was going to be on the cast when she tweeted to fans that she had big news to share but couldn’t reveal what it was yet. “Dancing With the Stars” host Tom Bergeron responded to her post calling her a “tease.”
The official announcement will be made on “Good Morning America” Tuesday, Aug. 30. Season 23 of “Dancing With the Stars” begins Monday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
