Danica Patrick is sharing why confidence is key after turning 40 two months ago.

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, the former NASCAR racer, who celebrated her milestone birthday on March 25, opened up about her self-confidence now that she has reached a new decade in her life.

"I think that’s always an ongoing thing, but age definitely gives you a lot of perspective," she told the outlet while promoting her partnership with Good Foods Wednesday. "I think that just having a little bit more perspective and being rational is something that can kinda ease your mind, but staying body confident is just a lot about knowing yourself and the more you know yourself and know who you are and what you want and what makes you happy. Happiness is beautiful."

Patrick, who is single following her split from Carter Comstock earlier this year, said entering a new decade made her reflect on where she's at now in her career, love life and friendships.

"I think that turning one day older from 39 to 40, I think when you shift decades, I think it makes a difference on that one day," she explained. "...There are so many great things in my life, but then I'm like, 'Yeah, I'm single and I'm 40. I'm not sure what that says about me.' I had this moment, but then I also was able to observe the fact that I took an amazing vacation with like 10 of my best girlfriends and we had a blast."

At her age, Patrick said she is able to recognize all the "good things" in her life and feel content.

"So, 40, I guess I feel just more comfortable in my skin and like there’s so much life left," she continued. "I’m gonna live to 120. So 40 is totally not some midlife crisis. It’s like, it’s the new 20!"

The "Pretty Intense" podcast host dated Comstock for a year before she announced their breakup in March.

According to Patrick, she trusts and follows her heart and intuition when it comes to finding a partner and feels she's been increasingly "doing a better job" at it over time. She noted that if there are red flags at the beginning of a relationship, they should not be brushed off because they are "really critical."

Though she hasn't found a new man yet, Patrick said she is positive that love will "come along and [at the] perfect timing" for her.

Patrick previously dated Aaron Rodgers and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. She and Stenhouse were together for five years before calling it quits in 2013.

She then dated the Green Bay Packers quarterback from January 2018 to July 2020. She previously admitted to Us Weekly that their split left her "broken open."
