The Dark Knight Rises has yet to hit theaters, but conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh is already crying foul for a pretty crazy conspiracy theory. According to Limbaugh, he thinks that Warner Bros. and Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan chose to use Bane as a villain as an attack on presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.

So how exactly do you connect Bane, played by Tom Hardy, to Mitt Romney? Well it's definitely not based on resembling looks. Limbaugh sees the character Bane as an attack on Romney because the presidential hopeful founded and worked for investment fund Bain Capital before retiring at a questionable time.

According to the Huffington Post, Romney was with the company when the firm was involved in some controversial practices between 1999 and 2002. Romney is linked to a claim of outsourcing while with Bain, a business decision he claims he never signed off on.

Rush Limbaugh believes that Bane was used in the Dark Knight Rises so that viewers of the film (and voters), will associate Romney with a villain when the Obama campaign mention Bain during the race.

Do you think it is accidental that the name of the really vicious firebreathing, four-eyed whatever-it-is villain in the movie is named Bane? asked Limbaugh on air Tuesday.

According to Limbaugh the huge audiences will be full of brain dead people, entertainment, the pop culture crowd. What he believes is going to happen is that this brain dead crowd will hear Bane in the movie and they're going to associate Bain.

These people will start thinking back to the 'Batman' movies, 'Oh yeah, I know who that is!' continued Limbaugh, taking in account how the Democrats will continue to talk about Romney and Bain.

According to ComicBookMovie.com, Nolan has repeated over and over again that the reason for choosing Bane, was so that Batman would have a villain that is a physical challenge.

Let's say a physical challenge is a cover-up, we have to take in account dates. As the Hollywood Reporter puts it, Bane was not invented for this film. The character has appeared in the Batman series since 1993. And for him to be appearing in the new Batman film now, The Dark Knight Rises has been in the works since the 2008 success of The Dark Knight. Warner Bros has had the release date for the sequel, summer 2012, set for a while.

According to a Washington Times blog post though, Romney and Bain resemble Bruce Wayne more than villain Bane. If Obama had his way, Bruce Wayne would have been taxed out of existence, blogger Amanda Read writes.
