‘The Darkest Minds’ Movie Cast: Meet The Adaptation’s Stars
“The Darkest Minds,” a movie adaptation of Alexandra Bracken’s young adult novel of the same name, is out in theaters on Friday, and it’s time you got to know the cast. Well-known actors and up-and-comers make up the roster of people bringing your favorite characters from the sci-fi novel to life on the big screen.
Meet the stars of “The Darkest Minds,” which follows a group of super-powered teenagers running from the government, below:
Amandla Stenberg (Ruby)
No stranger to the YA adaptation world, Stenberg has already starred in “The Hunger Games” and “Everything, Everything,” and will be in the upcoming “The Hate U Give” movie. She was also in a few episodes of “Sleepy Hollow” and “Mr. Robinson.”
Harris Dickinson (Liam)
This is a big year for Dickinson, who starred as J. Paul Getty III in the FX series “Trust,” and, along with “The Darkest Minds,” has his film “Postcards from London” coming out in various countries this month.
Miya Cech (Zu)
After kicking off her acting career with a guest role on “Hawaii Five-0” in 2015, Cech has had roles on “The Thundermans,” “Hand of God,” “American Horror Story,” “American Housewife” and more.
Skylan Brooks (Chubs)
The 19-year-old actor recently starred on Netflix’s “The Get Down,” had a role on Nickelodeon’s “iCarly” and worked on movies like “Southpaw,” “Crown Heights” and “Oliver, Stoned.”
Mandy Moore (Cate)
After starring in countless movies and shows, audience members should easily be able to recognize Moore. The actress currently stars on the hit NBC series, “This Is Us,” and was the lead in films like “A Walk to Remember,” “Chasing Liberty,” “How to Deal,” “47 Meters Down” and more.
Bradley Whitford (President Gray)
Whitford has over 30 years of experience in the movie and TV industry, with projects like “The West Wing,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Adventures in Babysitting,” “Billy Madison” and “Kate & Leopold” on his resume.
Mark O’Brien (Rob)
If you’ve seen the shows “Halt and Catch Fire,” “The Last Tycoon,” “Republic of Doyle” or “Diary of a Deadly P.I.,” then you already know O’Brien. If not, time to check out a few episodes before seeing him in “The Darkest Minds,” or you can save the TV binge for after you see him in the new movie.
Gwendoline Christie (Lady Jane)
“Game of Thrones” fans will know Christie as Brienne of Tarth while “Star Wars” lovers will recognize her as Captain Phasma. She also played Lexi on “Wizards vs. Aliens” and was Commander Lyme in “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2.”
