The aftermath of Eve’s (Kassie DePaiva) crashing the New Year’s benefit will play out on January 2. XJ Johnson/JPI Studios for NBC

The New Year is bringing some big shocks to “Days of Our Lives,” but fans will need to wait a day to see just how 2019 is going to start playing out for the citizens of Salem.

According to the NBC programming schedule, “Days of Our Lives: will be pre-empted for coverage of New Year’s special events. Beginning at 11 a.m. EST, the network is changing their lineup for New Year’s Day to accommodate coverage of the 130th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade. This coverage, live from Pasadena, California, will air through the slot usually occupied by “Days of Our Lives,” before programming switches to coverage of the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic at 1 p.m. EST. The game will see the Boston Bruins facing off against the Chicago Blackhawks.

However, the drama will once again kick off on “Days of Our Lives” on January 2, as the storyline again picks up with the aftermath of Jack’s (Matthew Ashford) return from the dead.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
